Shred Documents, Recycle Electronics For Free in Alpharetta

The city of Alpharetta will partner with organizations on Saturday Oct. 19 to allow residents to get rid of sensitive documents and old electronics.

The city of Alpharetta will soon give its residents a chance to get rid of old electoronics and shred sensitive documents.

The city will partner with Eco Shredding to hold a free document shredding event between 9 a.m. and noon Saturday Oct. 19 at the city's Department of Public Safety's headquarters at 2565 Old Milton Parkway.

Alpharetta will also team up with Atlanta Recycling Solutions to give residents a chance to dump old electronics during the same time in the same place.

Items accepted at no charge include:

  • DVD players & VCRs
  • Portable electronics
  • Mobile phones
  • Computer parts 
  • Telephones
  • iPods
  • Toner cartridges
  • Cables/Wires   
  • Calculators
  • Monitors   
  • Printers
  • Small electronics  
  • Laptops
  • Microwave ovens  
  • UPS batteries
The city will charge $10 for televisions, which will not include projection TV sets, console units or TV tubes.

Items that will not be accepted are: 
  • Small appliances
  • Tires
  • Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Trash
  • Humidifiers and dehumidifiers
  • Washers
  • Dryers
  • Power equipment
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Ovens
