Price of Stamps Increased on Sunday

The debut of the U.S. Postal Service's 46-cent Forever stamps brings rate changes on Jan. 27.

Mailing a letter just got more expensive. As of today, the cost of a first-class stamp rose to 46 cents. The U.S. Post Office announced that stamp prices would increase one cent to make way for the new 46-cent Forever stamp. The price to mail a one-ounce letter will increase from 45 cents to 46 cents. Adding a little weight to that letter will cost the same, rising 20 cents for each additional ounce. The announcement states letters under one ounce mailed anywhere internationally will cost $1.10 and postcard stamps will also see a one-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents.
