GBI: Union County Murder Suspect Died of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound - Holly Springs-Hickory Flat Patch The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says the Union County murder suspect involved in a shoot out with Cherokee Sheriff's deputies ended his own life last week in Holly Springs. According to the Cherokee Ledger-News, Anthony Payne died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Ledger confirmed with GBI Spokesman John Bankhead that Payne also received a gunshot wound to the arm when a Cherokee sheriff's deputy fired when the suspect did not drop his weapon. Forsyth Central Student Killed in Single-Car Crash - Cumming Patch A Forsyth Central High School student was killed in a tragic car accident on Spot Road Saturday morning. Marimar Alvarez, 17, was heading to her job at McDonald’s on Keith Bridge Road, where she had worked for several months, when the crash happened around 8:06 a.m. Alvarez, who was driving a 1995 Monte Carlo, came upon a curve eastbound near 3680 Spot Road. At that point Alvarez lost control of the car, according to Investigator Ron Tomblin of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle then left the roadway, spun around and struck a culvert. Milton Man Critical After Police Shooting

The suspect's Facebook page caused a friend to report threats, and police say he aimed a pistol at officers after they arrived on scene.

UPDATED 3:15 p.m.: Now added to this article, a GBI spokesman explains how a police-involved shooting is handled by his agency. A 43-year-old Milton man is in critical condition after he allegedly raised a pistol at responding officers following threats he made through the popular social media site Facebook to kill himself and police officers who came to his home. Capt. Shawn McCarty of the Milton Police Department said a friend of the suspect, Jeff Hamilton, called 911 at 8:15 p.m. May 8 after seeing the suicidal status update. Officers arrived at Hamilton's Morris Road townhome, which is in the Fairview community, five minutes later.
