North Fulton Hospital Using New Hip Replacement Technique

The Anterior Approach allows the surgeon to perform the surgery through a smaller incision, without detaching the muscles from either the hip or thigh bone.

North Fulton Hospital is on the cutting edge of surgical practice with the recently added Anterior Approach Hip Replacement technique. Hip replacement surgery is performed to help decrease pain, increase mobility and improve quality of life. While the surgery - which replaces the head of the thigh bone and the ball-and-socket mechanism in the hip with artificial implants - has been used to treat joint disease since the 1960s; the new Anterior Approach technique for total hip replacement was only developed in recent years. Traditionally, the operation was done making a 10- to 12-inch incision on the side of the hip. The muscles would then be detached from the hip, which would be dislocated. North Fulton Hospital's Micah Brown Named 'Tenet Hero'

The Tenet Hero is part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s recognition program for employees.

Local nurse, Micah Brown, has been named a Tenet Hero, according to a recent announcement by North Fulton Hospital. Brown, a breast health nurse navigator, has combined a generous and tirelessly compassionate nature during her decade long career in nursing. Her role begins the moment a woman finds out she has a breast problem or earlier, when she is just worried that she might. Young Girls Can Learn Self Defense with Help from Rotary, Hospital

The girls ages 11 and older will take part in the "Just Yell Fire" program.

Girls ages 11 and older can participate in a self-defense class on April 20 sponsored by the Rotary Club of Alpharetta and North Fulton Hospital. The self-defense class will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 10 a.m-12:30 p.m. at North Fulton Hospital. The class is available to friends and family of Rotary members and anyone interested in attending at a cost of $35 per girl. The Rotary Club of Alpharetta will sponsor Interact Club students wishing to participate. The single-session training course will be presented by Revved Up Kids. The girls will be taught using the award-winning “Just Yell Fire” program. Participants will be lead through a frank and informative discussion about taking ownership of their personal safety. North Fulton Hospital Names New CFO

The hospital's chief financial officer most recently held the same position at a North Carolina medical center.

North Fulton Hospital has appointed Sherry Henderson as its chief financial officer (CFO). Henderson has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, most recently as the CFO at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina. “Sherry is going to be a wonderful addition to the hospital and to the community,” said Debbie Keel, CEO. “Throughout her impressive career, she has proven her commitment to serving patients by ensuring a strong financial foundation at the hospitals she has served.” Henderson also has served as CFO of Doctors Hospital of Dallas and as controller of Houston Northwest Medical Center and Kenner Regional Medical Center. North Fulton Hospital Opens New Medical Building

The hospital held a special ribbon cutting ceremony, Thursday, Oct. 11.

North Fulton Hospital and commercial real estate developer Duke Realty hosted a grand opening event for the North Fulton Medical Plaza last night. The new 52,000-square-foot medical office building will enable the hospital to enhance outpatient care to suburban Atlanta counties. The ribbon-cutting ceremony showcased two of the hospital’s core outpatient facilities - the Pain and Spine Center and Roswell Imaging Center. The hospital has retained this designation since 2005, which signifies it can provide effective, timely care to stroke victims.

North Fulton Hospital was recertified again as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations after undergoing an on-site evaluation and demonstrating compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care. Hospital Owner Makes $43 Million Medicare Settlement

Tenet Healthcare Corp., owner of North Fulton Hospital, settled over allegations it overbilled for inpatient rehabilitation services.

Tenet Healthcare Corp., which owns and operates North Fulton Hospital, reached a $42.75 million settlement over allegations that it overbilled the federal Medicare program for inappropriate admissions to inpatient rehabilitation facilities. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia announced that the United States has reached an agreement with Tenet Healthcare over allegations that it violated the False Claims Act.  The settlement resolves allegations pertaining to twenty-five inpatient rehabilitation facilities that Dallas-based Tenet has owned and operated throughout the country.  These facilities are designed for patients who need an intense rehabilitation program that requires a multidisciplinary, coordinated team…
