Beach Holds Lead Over Jerguson in Senate Race

In unofficial vote totals posted on the Georgia Secretary of State's website, low voter turnout is easy to see even in early returns.

Update @ 10:00 p.m.: With all Cherokee and Fulton precincts reporting, Beach has 58 percent, or 5,470 lead over Jerguson's 42 percent, or 4,031. Update @ 9:40 p.m.: With 12 out of 15 precints reporting in Fulton County, Beach has a 80.64 percent, or 1,545 vote lead over Jerguson's 19.36 percent, or 371 votes. With all 26 precincts reporting in Cherokee, Beach has a 51.75 percent, or 3,925 lead over Jerguson's 48.25 percent, or 3,660. Update @ 9:00 p.m.: With 25 out of 26 precincts reporting in Cherokee, Beach maintains at 51.75 percent, or 3,925 lead over Jerguson's 48.25 percent, or 3,660. Beach Leads Senate Race, House Race Goes into Run-Off

In unofficial results, Brandon Beach leads former State Rep. Sean Jerguson in the State Senate race while the State House race heads to a run-off.

With all precincts reporting in Cherokee and Fulton counties, it appears Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brandon Beach leads former State Rep. Sean Jerguson in the Georgia Senate District 21 special election. However, the Georgia House District 21 race will head to a Feb. 5 run-off.  Beach appears to have defeated Jerguson with 58 percent, or 5,470 votes, compared to Jerguson's 42 percent, or 4,031 votes.  Just in Cherokee, Beach received 51.75 percent, or 3,925, over Jerguson's 48.25 percent, or 3,660. Beach's lead in Fulton County was more evident as he received 81 percent, or 1,545, over Jerguson's 19 percent, or 371 votes. Cherokee, Milton Voters Pick Beach or Jerguson Today

Voters in the Georgia House District 21 and Georgia Senate District 21 will choose between candidates vying for both seats.

Today is the special election to fill both the Georgia Senate District 21 and Georgia House District 21 seats. Polls will open today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in parts of Cherokee County, Alpharetta and Milton for voters to choose the next person to be sworn into those seats.  Voters in the state Senate District 21, which includes the eastern half of Cherokee County, Milton and part of Alpharetta, will choose between former State Rep. Sean Jerguson of Holly Springs and Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brandon Beach of Alpharetta.  Voters in House District 21, which includes parts of Holly Springs, Canton and southeast Cherokee County, will choose between Republicans Scot Turner, Brian Laurens, Kenneth Mimbs and Democrat…

Jerguson: Loan Default Lawsuit a 'Business Dispute'

Senate District 21 candidate Sean Jerguson is a party to a case in which he and several others have allegedly defaulted on a loan totaling more than $600,000.

Georgia Senate District 21 candidate Sean Jerguson and his business partners are on the hook to repay a bank loan totaling over $600,000.  That's according to court documents filed in the U.S. District Court Northern District of Georgia. According to a lawsuit filed in September by Arkansas-based Bank of the Ozarks, J. Cary and Kimberly H. Bullard of Gainesville, owners of Sapphire Pointe LLC, Jerguson and his wife Kate have allegedly defaulted on a $611,670.95 loan and $28,956.52 in unpaid interests they received in 2004 to operate the Maplewood Mobile Home Park in Cedartown. The Arkansas-based bank took over the loan when the original bank failed.  The defendants, according to court documents, have all filed responses in the case denying…

Brandon Beach Carried Over Unused Campaign Cash

Beach did not refund campaign donations he received in 2010, a violation of state law.

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brandon Beach violated state law when he did not refund contributions raised for the 2010 primary election, according to Atlanta Unfiltered. Beach, running for the Georgia Senate at the time, raised $13,600 he planned to spend during the general election, but lost the primary.  The investigative journalism website notes the state requires candidates to give back contributions raised during an election period in which they are not on the ballot. The Alpharetta resident kept those contributions and also applied them to his 2012 primary challenge against former Senator Chip Rogers, the website notes.  Beach told Atlanta Unfiltered that he didn't know the contributions had to be refunded…

Beach Challenged by Jerguson For Senate Seat

State Rep. Sean Jerguson of Holly Springs will take on Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Brandon Beach for the Senate District 21 seat.

Two more candidates qualified today to run in the Jan. 8, 2013, special election to fill two Georgia General Assembly seats. State Rep. Sean Jerguson (R-Holly Springs) qualified today to formally start campaigning for the Georgia Senate District 21 seat, which is now vacant due to the abrupt resignation of former Senator Chip Rogers.
