Victims Found on GA 400, Greenway Died of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wounds

Alpharetta police have ended their investigations into the unrelated incidents.

Alpharetta investigators have concluded that a motorist found dead in his car and a man whose body was found near the Big Creek Greenway both were the victims of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Police closed their investigations into the unrelated incidents today, said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. Alpharetta police responded to a call by a Georgia Department of Transporation HERO driver on Dec. 12. The HERO unit operator found a man inside a car on GA 400 northbound just north of Kimball Bridge Road. The man in the car was dead. Three days later, Alpharetta police responded to a section of the greenway trial system south of Kimball Bridge Road, where a partially decomposed body of a man was found …

Georgia HERO Driver Finds Dead Man in Car on GA 400

After the female HERO driver spotted a car whose driver she thought might need assistance, Alpharetta police found the man had an apparent gunshot wound.

A Georgia HERO driver on patrol on GA 400 northbound spotted what she thought might be a stranded motorist at the Kimball Bridge Road overpass at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. But what she discovered when she stopped to offer help was a man who had died with an apparent gunshot was in the car. The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident, said spokesman George Gordon via email. The female HERO driver saw the vehicle parked on the right shoulder of GA 400 at the overpass. "She approached the vehicle wanting to determine if she came across a stranded motorist," Gordon said.
