Saturday’s Powerball jackpot has reached $600 million, the highest jackpot in the game’s history. The announcement was made Friday afternoon, just a few days after strong sales prompted lottery officials to bump Saturday’s Powerball jackpot from $475 million to $550 million. Not only is the current $600 million jackpot the largest in Powerball history, it is the second largest jackpot in U.S. history. A Georgia Lottery ticket worth $1 million was sitting in Alpharetta, ready for anyone to pick it up, but it's gone now to Sugar Hill. An out of town resident bought the $1 million Benjamins instant game ticket at a local convenience store. Scott Harris of Sugar Hill picked up his big ticket at the Chevron Food Mart located at 6415 Atlanta Highway. He claimed his prize at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth. Powerball officials are saying that two tickets matching all six numbers were sold in Arizona and Missouri for the recent $587.5 million jackpot, according to USA Today. A winning lottery ticket worth $500,000 was recently sold in Buford. Virginia Webster of Alpharetta bought the half-million dollar prize-winning Jumbo Jumbo Bucks ticket at the Suwanee Exxon, located at 4296 Old Suwanee Road in Buford. An Alpharetta woman has won a big prize from the Georgia Lottery for the second time in two years, this time taking home $20,000. Susan Armstrong-Clark just won $20,000 in the instant game $400,000 Grant. The lucky winner selected her ticket from the Georgia Lottery’s Instant Ticket Vending Machine while grocery shopping. “It was a very lucky pick,” she said. “I feel pretty darn good.” Two years ago she won $5,000 playing another Georgia Lottery instant game, Jumbo Jumbo Bucks. “I used it for renovations and a ski trip,” said Armstrong-Clark, 64. Storm Causes House Fires, Power Outages in Gwinnett - Suwanee Patch The storm that hit Gwinnett County on Tuesday evening (July 10) caused house fires in the Suwanee and Lawrenceville areas and downed trees and power lines in Peachtree Corners.
