Credit Card Thieves Buy a Lot of Gas

A Milton man went online to pay his credit card bill only to discover his card number had been used fraudulently multiple times over a three-day period at the end of February. The victim saw $750 in charges made in Acworth to buy fuel, according to the March 29 Milton police incident report. The investigating officer advised the man to contact credit bureaus to report the fraud. Creditor's Attempt to Collect Past Due Bill Reveals Identity Fraud Another Milton man only learned that somone used his Social Security number to open an AT&T account when a creditor called him about a past due account. Milton Woman's Credit Card Used 31 Times Fraudulently

The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Milton woman reported to police on Feb. 8 that someone used her Visa Card fraudulently 31 times before she discovered the problem. She first spotted a fraudulent transaction of $1,097.94 on her card on Jan. 20. That prompted her to contact her bank and review all of her transactions. She found an additional 30 fraudulent transactions, bringing the total to $2,868.86. Her bank advised her that all of the charges were completed in Florida. The victim said she had been in Florida during November 2012 for the Thanksgiving holidays, and she believed her card number had been skimmed at that time. Cats and Burglars Attack in Milton

  An officer responded to a call on Sandringham Drive involving an altercation between two individuals and a cat. At approximately 1 a.m. on Dec. 4 a man stated that he and his girlfriend had been attacked by a cat when they returned home from a local bar. Apparently, the girlfriend saw the cat as she was walking up the stairway to her apartment, picked it up, and began to pet it while continuing to the third floor. She is a cat owner and said that she feels very comfortable with cats. However, at some point the cat became agitated and scratched her on the right forearm. The man then grabbed an oven mitten from inside the apartment but the cat bit through the oven mitt, leaving three bite marks on his right thumb. At this point, he threw …

For Some, Holiday Season Marred By Fraud

Fraudulent Charges Discovered in New York A Milton woman believes that her credit card information was stolen at a local restaurant and used to rack up $650 worth of bills in New York. The woman met with police on Dec. 2 to report the fraudulent charges, two of which was made at a Torres Supermarket. The victim spoke with the supermarket’s manager who forwarded her copies of the purchase receipts. He also advised that security video was available. A representative from her bank was able to cancer the victims credit card and send her a replacement. All supporting documentation, including a bank statement printout of the fraudulent charges and copies of receipts for the Torres Supermarket Purchases have been forwarded to Criminal …
