Alpharetta police discovered information leading them to believe that the Marietta man who died in a shootout with police after he shot an officer may have had an explosive device at his home.

As U.S. Marshals closed in on Shane Woods in another state, he returned to Georgia and was captured.
U.S. Marshals captured a suspect in an Alpharetta fatal shooting in DeKalb County. Shane Demetrice Woods was captured at 7:30 p.m. on March 12 by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Squad. Woods was found hiding at a residence in DeKalb County. The U.S. Marshals made the arrest with the assistance of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. Zachary Rose, 22, died after being shot in the lower abdomen during an incident on Whitestone Ridge at Stoneridge subdivision on Jan. 28. Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman George Gordon said Rose was shot and killed while answering the front door of a townhouse in Stoneridge. A reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in the shooting death of a Canton man at an Alpharetta townhome.
Alpharetta detectives believe a murder suspect is hiding in the metro Atlanta area, but they've been unable to find him. So the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has renewed its call and an offer of a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Shane Demetrice Woods. Woods is wanted in connection with the shooting death of Zachary Rose, 22, of Canton, on Jan. 25. Rose was visiting a friend at the Stoneridge townhome subdivision in Alpharetta when someone knocked on the door. After the door was answered, Rose was shot in the lower abdomen.
