Alpharetta Junior Raider Wrestlers Win Gold

Fourteen of the wrestlers brought home medals from the Shoot the Hooch Beginners Tournament at Chattahoochee High.

Alpharetta Junior Raider wrestlers competed in a match at Chattahoochee High School on Dec. 16, with 14 of the 17 wrestlers taking home medals. Jackson Fiorillo (8-U/75) took home the GOLD after pinning all three of his opponents. Chuck Boyd, head coach of the Alpharetta Junior Raider Wrestling elementary school program, said he was pleased with the results and looks forward to some of the elementary team moving up to open-level tournaments in January.  "We have seen great progress from all our wrestlers. Jackson, Reagan, and Colson in particular have demonstrated great improvement during their second year of wrestling and the Marks brothers may end up being as famous for wrestling as the currently better known Marx brothers were for …

Jr. Raider Wrestlers Earn Medals at Harrison Top Dog Tournament

The Alpharetta team finished second only to Walton High.

Gold, silver and bronze were collected by the 14-member Junior Raider Wrestlers at the Harrison Top Dog Beginners Tournament at Harrison High School in Kennesaw on Nov. 20. As a team the Junior Raiders finished second in the event out of 36 teams that competed.  The Junior Raiders earned 152 match points, behind only Walton who earned 190 match points. In addition, the Junior Raiders earned nine total pins, which was the fourth highest quantity of team pins, behind only Walton (14), Chattahoochee (11), and River Ridge (10).   Coach Mark Spivak said for the first-year Junior Raider athletes, the Top Dog Tournament was the first tournament of their young wrestling life.  For the second-year wrestlers, it was the debut for what the coaching …
