The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has zero tolerance for underage drinking or the vandalism often associated with those "Junior-Senior wars."
Alpharetta has zero tolerance for underage drinking, so the city's Public Safety Department is warning teens and their parents that prom parties are no reason to break those laws. The city is sending a serious message to teens, their parents, and other adults concerning underage drinking and other prom night antics. First and foremost, minors should not be allowed to drink alcohol, period. “Young people who have consumed alcohol are far more likely to do things they would not normally do,” warned Alpharetta Public Safety Director Gary George in a news release. “Beyond the threat of alcohol related car crashes, they are far more likely to get involved in dangerous situations or engage in sexual activity when alcohol is involved.” Police …

When four juveniles who skipped school on Sept. 13 were caught by Milton police, one of the youth's mothers used the opportunity to get help searching her daughter's room for drugs. Police received a call about a suspicious vehicle in Wyndham subdivision. The responding officer found the car unattended with its windows open. He had to leave for another call, but when he returned he spotted the car on Sunfish Bend with four occupants. One of the four teens admitted that a bottle of wine was his, and he was issued a citation for minor in possession of alcohol. Family members arrived to take the juveniles home. However, the mother of the female juvenile asked the Milton officer to search her daughter's room with his police service dog. The …

Teens from Alpharetta, Milton and Johns Creek were arrested for alleged underage drinking and marijuana possession on their way home from a 311 concert after a Johns Creek Police officer pulled over a vehicle with an expired tag on July 21 on Medlock Bridge Road. He said the vehicle was occupied by five people, all appearing to be teenagers. The officer asked the driver where they were coming from, and the driver said they had all gone to a 311 concert at Lakewood. The officer stated in the report that he found this significant as other law enforcement officers have said that 311 concerts are often the scene of widespread drug and alcohol use. A few teens were at Milton High School on June 17, but it was very early Saturday and they weren't in summer school. Milton police responded to an alarm call for the school gym at 2:22 a.m. An officer checking doors on the south side of the gym spotted three males and a female inside. When they saw him, they ran out the north side. Another officer called to help with the search later found a teen coming out of the woods near the baseball field. The officer reported the youth had a bottle of tequila and appeared drunk when he was found. The teen admitted being in the gym and provided names of three other juveniles he said were with him.
