Customer Keeps Rental Truck Two Months Past Due Date

A truck rental company reported on Dec. 6 that a customer rented a truck from Home Depot on Windward Parkway on Oct. 4 that was due back on Oct. 11, yet it still hasn't been brought back by Dec. 4. A Penske truck rental employee said attempts to reach the woman by phone have failed. An attempt to update the bill also failed when the credit card used for the rental was declined. Attempts by Milton police to call the woman went to voice mail, with no call being returned. The rental agent was told he needed to send a certified or registered letter by mail asking that the truck be returned. Only after five business days and after a return receipt is received can a warrant be sought for theft by conversion. That's also the earliest the police…
