Milton High School senior Annie Kelly shattered her personal record and a school record in the 1600 meter race in the Georgia High School Association State Meet by breaking the 5-minute barrier, going 4:59.10 for one of two runner-up finishes. Coach Andy Carr said Kelly concluded her illustrious career at Milton with a pair of runner-up finishes at the GHSA State Meet held in Albany on May 9-10. The 1600 saw Kelly contend for the win and lead numerous times during the race. Twenty-four hours later, Kelly was back to race the 3200 she again contended for the win through the race and recorded another runner-up finish with her 10:49.54, her second-fastest effort ever at Milton. Milton High School will play host to the Milton Track and Field Showcase on Saturday, March 2, with 16 Georgia teams visiting to compete in the meet.
