Residents Quiz Local Legislators

Six state legislators stopped by Crabapple on Thursday night to give residents updates from the General Assembly, and answer their questions.

Milton's own state Rep. Jan Jones and five of her colleagues in the General Assembly whose districts represent parts of North Fulton and Cherokee counties answered constituents' questions in Crabapple on Thursday night. The town hall meeting brought a few dozen residents to the Crabapple Government Center to ask about topics ranging from gun ownership rights to charter schools. Dana Teagarden of Roswell wanted to know why legislators hadn't taken action when she presented them with her concerns about Fulton Science Academy Middle School. She particularly wanted to know why some of them supported the school that hadn't accounted for $6 million in bond funds, siding with it over the Fulton School Board when its members voted to deny the …

Local Legislators Will Answer Your Questions

A town hall meeting at the Crabapple Government Center Thursday night will give residents in Alpharetta, Milton and nearby communities a chance to quiz their representatives in the General Assembly.

Wondering what your lawmakers did at the state Capitol during the recent legislative session? Do you have questions on what passing–or rejecting–certain legislation means for local residents? Thursday night is your chance to find out, and to hear straight from six legislators' mouths what was accomplished this year. A Town Hall meeting is scheduled in Crabapple. State Senators Answer Questions About TSPLOST, Education Taxes

John Albers and Chip Rogers held a joint town hall meeting at Alpharetta City Hall, drawing residents from Woodstock, Roswell, Milton and Alpharetta.

State Sens. John Albers, R-Roswell, and Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock, heard from residents on education, sales tax, TSPLOST and other issues at a joint town hall meeting at Alpharetta City Hall on Saturday, Jan. 28. After hearing an update from Albers and Rogers, Carol Wood opened with questions, asking the legislators not to balance the state budget on seniors' backs. Seniors haven't seen an increase in Social Security in three years, and most of that was taken up by increasing Medicare costs, she said. Many seniors depend upon the food pantry at her church. More and more residents over 50 "are coming to us blessing us for the food they are getting from us because they are tired of eating oatmeal and grits three times a day," Wood said.  …

Watch Sen. Chip Rogers Back School Choice, Oppose Obamacare

Rogers, Sen. John Albers will hold a town hall meeting at Alpharetta City Hall on Saturday, Jan. 28.

Sen. Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock, discusses School Choice and the broadband investment equity act in his video message this week. The Senate Majority Leader's district will change to include many Alpharetta and Milton residents. He'll be in doowntown Alpharetta at City Hall on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a Joint Town Hall Meeting with Sen. John Albers, R-Roswell, at 10:30 a.m. Attendees will then have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session.  All residents are invited to attend.

Milton, Alpharetta Residents Can Call to Help Decide Transportation's Future

The Atlanta Regional Roundtable's Telephone Townhall Meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Since June 13 the group responsible for figuring out what transportation projects best serve a 10-county region of Metro Atlanta has been holding town hall meetings via telephone, gathering input from local residents on what is important to them. The Atlanta Regional Roundtable has a goal of speaking with 1 million residents as it weeds through a project list to cull it down to what is affordable if the sales tax referendum passes next summer.
