St. Francis Basketball Championship Game Broadcasting Live Online

The Knights play Greenforest of Decatur in the title game at Macon Saturday afternoon.

The St. Francis Knights will be fighting Greenforest in the state Class A-Private boys basketball championship on Saturday, March 9. Tipoff is at 12:45 p.m., but if you can't make it to Macon, you can always watch the finals live online. The Georgia High School Association in cooperation with Playonsports.com is televising the boys and girls basketball championships March 7-9. St. Francis beat Aquinas High School 61-56 at a game played March 1 at Kennesaw State University to make it into the finals, as seen on video on PlayOnSports.com. Kobi Jordan-Simmons was picked as player of the game, according to MaxPreps Sports. He had 19 points in the game. St. Francis is 24-8 (12-2 in region play) on the year. King's Ridge Tigers Work on Undefeated Season

The St. Francis Knights will be down Cogburn Road at home looking for their first win.

The King's Ridge Christian Tigers are undefeated and have scored at least 45 points in each of their three victories. Tonight they host Darlington The Tigers beat Pinecrest Academy in their home opener 45-7. A week later, their Cogburn Road "neighbor," St. Francis High, fell victim to King's Ridge, who held the Knights scoreless in a 49-0 victory. Last week wasn't much different, with Pace Academy scoring the most ponts against the Tigers so far in a 48-20 King's Ridge win. Darlington is 1-2 this season, but the Rome team is coming off a big victory against Chattooga, 31-7. Losses to Christian Academy of Knoxville (42-23) and Cartersville (28-7) got these other Tigers off to a bad start on the season. It's Tigers vs. Tigers at King's Ridge…

Knights Fall in Regional Baseball Play

St. Francis next plays Fellowship Christian on Thursday.

The Knights of St. Francis High aren't having the season they'd hoped for on the baseball diamond. The team lost to Mount Pisgah 17-4 on Tuesday afternoon, dropping them to 0-3 in region play. Coach Jeff Nichols said the team returns to action Thursday at Fellowship Christian. On Monday night, the Knights fell 11-7 to Riverside Military. Mark Schulte led St. Francis at the plate, with three hits and three runs scored. The team is now 1-10-1 on the year.

Knights Fall Despite Grand Slam, Six Ks

St. Francis returns to the baseball diamond today.

The St. Francis High School Knights varsity baseball team lost its season opener at home to Paideia 10-9. The Knights were led at the plate by Zac Johnson's grand slam, said Coach Jeff Nichols. Jonah Huff was the only Knight with multiple hits. He went 2 for 2 with a solo HR. Spencer Orr pitched well but didn't get the decision. He struck out six on the day. St. Francis will be back in action Tuesday at home against Riverside Military.

Milton High Soccer Player Signs with Georgia State

Anna Hilpertshauser will be joined by former St. Francis High–and current Centennial–standout Danielle Paz on the team next year.

A Milton High and a former St. Francis High standout now attending Centennial have both signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Georgia State women's soccer team beginning in the fall 2012 season. Anna Hilpertshauser of Milton High School and Danielle Paz of Centennial High, a former St. Francis High standout, are members of  the school's recruiting class of 2016, which is comprised of eight Georgia natives with just one signee hailing from outside the state lines. "We are really excited for our 2012 season," said head coach Derek Leader. "It will be a fresh start for both our returners and newcomers. St. Francis Falls in Commerce Holiday Tournament Championship Game

The boys' basketball team lost to Douglas County, and next play Pace Academy at home on Tuesday night.

The St. Francis Knights made a charge in the Commerce Holiday Tournament, but fell short in the championship game with a loss to Douglas County. The Knights fell 105-71 on Friday, Dec. 30, head basketball Coach Cabral Huff reported. The Knights were led by freshman Malik Beasley with 17, McKinley Brown with 12, Nigel Jackson with 10 and Connor Smith with 8. Senior Connor Smith was named to the all-tournament team. The Knights finish 6-6 in 2011 and begin 2012 versus Pace Academy at St. Francis High on Jan. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

St. Francis Boys Basketball Team Plays Commerce Championship Game Tonight

The girls team lost its quarterfinal game in a tournament in Naples, FL.

  The St. Francis Knights boys basketball team will play Douglas County in the championship game of the Commerce High Christmas Tournament at 8:30 p.m. today, Dec. 30. St. Francis High defeated Gilmer in semi-finals of the tournament, 74-56. Coach Cabral Huff reports that Connor Smith led the Knights with 26, freshman Kaiser Gates scored 14 and Justis Morgan scored 13. The Knights face an undefeated Douglas County team, he said. The Knights are 6-5 on the year with Thursday's win. While the boys team advanced, the St. Francis girls team was in Naples, FL, for a tournament. St. Francis High Wins First Game of Commerce Christmas Tournament

The Knights play tonight in the semi-finals of the invitational.

St. Francis High Coach Cabral Huff reports that his varsity boys basketball team won its first game in the Commerce Christmas Tournament on Wednesday night. St Francis defeated Madison County 60-45 in the first round of the invitational tournament. Huff said the local team plays at 8:30 p.m. today, Dec. 29, in the semifinals. "Connor Smith led the Knights with 17 points, Justis Morgan had 16 points and Nigel Jackson scored 10 points," Huff said. The three-day tournament also had Commerce against Gilmer County, Archer playing Thomson and Douglas County matching up with Johnson of Savannah on the first day of play.
