The North Fulton and Friends Tea Party meeting today, Dec. 18, will host many members of the Fulton County legislative delegation. Local leaders will address attendees on upcoming legislation in the new legislative session and get local resident's positions on topics such as nullification of "Obamacare" in Georgia, a Milton County update, horse racing in Georgia and many other pertinent topics. Leaders who've said they'll be attending and speaking will be Sen. John Albers, Rep. Harry Geisinger, Rep. Lynn Riley, Senator Judson Hill, Rep. Chuck Martin and others. Roswell's Sen. John Albers will propose new legislation requiring people who receive temporary emergency funds to pass a drug test.
Roswell Sen. John Albers is concerned about where taxpayers dollars are going and he's hoping that by drug testing anyone receiving temporary government funds, the state will cut down on irresponsible spending. "Our dependency on entitlement programs has grown at an alarming and unsustainable rate. It is time for an era of responsibility and accountability," he told Roswell Patch. Albers, along with Rep. Local experts gathered at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell to increase awareness about drowning dangers to children.
Because it is past Labor Day, adults stop thinking about pools and water safety. But at an awareness event on Tuesday, held jointly between North Fulton Hospital, Rural/Metro Ambulance, the Roswell Fire Department and Sen. John Albers, experts suggested that this is a dangerous time for kids around pools and other bodies of water. “We want to keep children’s safety on the forefront of our minds,” said Reg James, division manager for Rural/Metro Ambulance. “Backyard and neighborhood pools are still open.” For U.S. children five to 14 years of age, unintentional injury is the leading cause of death.
