Andrew Young to Visit Alpharetta for Interfaith Prayer Breakfast

The former ambassador and mayor will speak at the Rotary Club of North Fulton's event on the National Day of Prayer.

Former U.N. Ambassador and Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young will be in Alpharetta on Thursday to take part in the North Atlanta Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, one of several events held locally on the National Day of Prayer. Young will be the keynote speaker at the Rotary Club of North Fulton's 12th annual North Atlanta Interfaith Prayer Breakfast at the Metropolitan Club on Thursday, May 2, which will run from 7:30-9 a.m. Doors open at 7 a.m. This is the Rotary Club's signature community event, with the theme, "Prayer for America." The invocation by Rotary Club President Ben Hunter will start the event. Several community faith leaders will offer commentary and prayer, with music following. North Fulton Club Plans Rotary Reflection Garden in North Park

The Alpharetta club is giving local residents a chance to participate in the garden by purchasing brick pavers.

North Park will become thehome of the Rotary Reflection Garden after Alpharetta approved of the project by the Rotary Club of North Fulton. The City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Recreation Commission approved construction of the Rotary Reflection Garden, which is the club's third project at the park. Richard Owens Environmental Design is tasked with creating a peaceful and subtle woodland garden in this naturally beautiful, yet underutilized, nook of North Park and provide park visitors an opportunity for exploration, rest, relaxation and reflection, the club reports. Rotary Club Gets $200,000 Grant for African Dam

The North Fulton club's project funds construction of a dam in Swaziland.

The Rotary Club of North Fulton won approval for a $200,000 grant to help build a dam in Africa. The Rotary Foundation approved the international matching grant to support the construction of a third water retention dam on Heart for Africa’s Project Canaan site in Swaziland, Africa. The North Fulton Club, in efforts let by led by President-Elect Ben Hunter, has partnered with multiple Rotary clubs in metro Atlanta, the central U.S. and Canada to achieve the needed momentum for approval.  This grant, with total budget of $200,000, marks the second successful international grant in recent years for the North Fulton club, and it represents the largest international grant in the history of Rotary District 6900, which comprises approximately …

North Fulton Rotarians Donate to Habitat for Humanity

Milton High graduate tells Alpharetta club about the Roswell-based agency's work.

  Habitat for Humanity North Georgia's Colleen Fogarty visited the Rotary Club of North Fulton and left with a $1,000 donation from the club to assist in its efforts to build houses in the local community and worldwide. Fogarty grew up in Alpharetta and is a Milton High graduate. She attended the University of Georgia, where she first become involved with Habitat for Humanity. Upon graduation, that college avocation turned into a job as she was hired by Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia. She has been working with the local Habitat office for six years. In addition to her work locally, she also leads Habitat for Humanity Global Village trips to various locations abroad. Last year she led a trip to Portugal, and this year she will …
