Newt's Out, Two Left in Bid for Republican Nomination

Tell us what you think about the candidates left in the Republican Presidential bid race?

With the campaign suspension announcement of Georgia's own Newt Gingrich on Wednesday afternoon, the field of Republican candidates is narrowed significantly. Gingrich, backed by some of Roswell's own elected officials, posted a web video addressing his decision on Tuesday and made his official announcement on Wednesday, according to reports by The Huffington Post. Roswell Approves Groveway Zoning Form Based Code

Roswell City Council approved nearly five years worth of work on the Groveway community's hybrid form-based code.

After nearly five years of preparation, a first approval in March and four hours of discussion both for and against the Groveway community hybrid form-based code, Roswell City Council passed the locally unprecedented ordinance Monday night. "This is an exciting time. It's a change that will keep Roswell going," said Councilman Jerry Orlans, noting the "sense of place" that will be added to Roswell through the ordinance. Opponents of the zoning plan worry that it will permit thousands of apartments in the community. In the end, five of the six council members voted for approval of the ordinance, having taken a considerable amount of time to flush out some of the details that bothered them during the weeks since the first reading in mid-…

NFCC Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Christens New Education Center

North Fulton Community Charities' new Education Center will provide a "hand up" for Fulton County residents.

North Fulton Community Charities held the ribbon cutting ceremony for their new Education Center on Wednesday. The center - which will be used for everything from education classes to job training - is staffed by more than 70 volunteers. NFCC began using the building in February and has already held more than 50 classes for 175 Fulton County residents. Prior to opening the new center, the NFCC Thrift store was being used to hold education classes. But thanks to generous donations from the Roswell, Alpharetta and Johns Creek communities, the new Education Center will operate across the street from the thrift store now. The Family Enrichment Program is one of the many programs NFCC will offer Fulton County residents and is it funded for a …
