Fulton Schools Superintendent Shares Immigration Story in Alpharetta

Robert Avossa visited Manning Oaks fifth grade students to give them a personal lesson about coming to America from Italy.

Dr. Robert Avossa, superintendent of Fulton County Schools, visited Manning Oaks Elementary to talk to the 5th graders about his personal experience as an immigrant from Italy in the 1970s. He led an interactive discussion with the children on Jan. 23 by asking them to share with each other why they thought so many immigrants have come to America.  Dr. Avossa shared his family’s experience during World War II and how that led to their decision to move to the United States many years later. He shared how his family had to leave so many things behind and how difficult it was coming to America and not speaking the language. Crabapple Crossing Celebrates Blue Ribbon with Song, Ice Cream

The Milton school had a visit from state Superintendent of Schools John Barge, Fulton County Schools officials and local community members to honor the students, teachers and staff.

Crabapple Crossing Elementary students were glad to celebrate their school's National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award, and the ice cream served up today courtesy of Blue Bell just made the honor sweeter. "Teamwork makes the difference. And it takes all of us. The energy in this school is unlike any others. Do you feel it? I know you do, because I do, too," said Principal George Freiberger. "Students, your teachers go above and beyond every day for you." Fulton Superintendent of Schools Robert Avossa told the students that, "You are a champion today. Fulton Superintendent Shares Breakfast with French Students

Avossa visited Milton High Tuesday morning for a waffle breakfast, visiting French students and French exchange students.

Dr. Robert Avossa, superintendent of Fulton County Schools, visited Milton High School this morning. He spoke with Milton students and French exchange students at a waffle breakfast hosted by the French Club. The sponsor of the French Club is Shelby Steinhauer, Fulton County's Teacher of the Year–and a finalist for Georgia Teacher of the Year.
