Did Alpharetta Councilman Go Too Far on TV, Or Was it Just Acting?

Comments on Alpharetta-Milton Patch and the blog that started the discussion show mostly disgust or disappointment in Donald Mitchell's actions, but he says he's just acting a role.

Alpharetta City Councilman Donald Mitchell answered complaints about his actions on a reality TV show to say he's just acting a part. Roots in Alpharetta posted a blog on Saturday, March 23, "Donald Mitchell, on a trashy reality show?, and that got the comments started on that blog and on Alpharetta-Miton Patch on a blog by Julie Hogg, "Would You Re-elect Kennedy, Mitchell or Owens?" Mitchell plays what appears to be a caricature of himself on "Big Rich Atlanta," an Atlanta-based reality TV show on the Style Network. "As you may know, though the show is not scripted, I have been asked to play a defined character," Mitchell said in his response to questions about his role and actions on that TV show. Julie, I don't expect council members to please 100% of the people 100% of the time. I do expect our elected leaders to behave maturely and act to serve the best interests of the community. As this seems to be too high of an expectation for some of them, I am grateful that there are many other citizens who can replace them.   more ›

America's Supernanny Wants to Help Alpharetta Families

Producers of the hit show will be in the Atlanta area to cast for the next season, and local families can ask for her help.

America's Supernanny is casting families for the next season of the show, and is sending producers to the Alpharetta area to find them. The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB) reports that the hit parenting series contacted them looking to cast families. The ACVB heads local efforts to bring film productions into Alpharetta and regularly receives inquiries from various entertainment companies considering the area for projects. This upcoming season’s producers are searching for families with unique circumstances and challenges to cast on America's Supernanny. The challenges parents may be struggling with could include disrespectful behavior; “tween” and teen issues; mean girls or bullying boys; and blended families where both …
