Gingrich Tells Cobb Chamber: 'Let's go back to 1998'

Gingrich said that if elected President he would draw on methods he used as House Speaker in the late-1990s to lead the country.

Hopeful Republican presidential nominee Newt Gingrich told his former constituents at Thursday’s Cobb Chamber of Commerce breakfast that if elected he’d attempt turn back the clock to his days as former House Speaker. “First let’s go back to 1998,” he said. “We need to control spending, reform government and balance the federal budget for a generation. This isn’t a theory. It’s what we did. So we know it’s doable. We in this room have been there. This was in our lifetime. Cobb County can take some credit for it because, candidly, if you hadn’t elected me it wouldn’t have happened. Avoid the Super Tuesday Rush and Vote Early in Presidential Primary

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is March 2, but you can start voting by Feb. 13.

The Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections is preparing for the March 6 Presidential Preference Primary. Voters can participate by requesting an absentee ballot in the mail, participating in advance voting or casting a ballot on March 6. Voters in Georgia do not have to provide a reason to vote prior to Election Day either by mail (absentee voting) or in person (advance voting). Absentee Voting The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the Primary is Friday, March 2. Voters can call the Department of Registration and Elections at 404-612-7060 and request that an application for an absentee ballot be mailed, e-mailed or faxed to them. Alpharetta, Milton Voters Can Ask for Absentee Ballots

Voter registration deadline for the presidential preference primary is Feb. 6.

Absentee voting by mail for "Super Tuesday," the March 6 presidential preference primary, began this weekend. Alpharetta and Milton voters can request an absentee ballot through Friday, March 2. Those absentee ballots must be returned by Georgia residents to the Fulton County Registration and Elections office by the close of polls on election day, March 6. Absentee ballots cast by overseas and military voters must be postmarked on or before March 6, but will be accepted until the end of business on March 9. Voters don't have to provide a reason when asking for an absentee ballot. Voters can get an absentee ballot request form from Secretary of State Gary Kemp’s website: sos.ga.gov.
