The Raiders came from behind to take the lead with just over 2 minutes left, but fell to a field goal with 7 seconds left on the clock.
Alpharetta High seemed poised for a storybook ending to their first round playoff game against the Mill Creek Hawks Friday night, but the visting team ended the Raiders playoff hopes with a field goal with only 7 seconds left, winning 41-39. The Raiders had trailed ever since the second quarter when the Hawks Bryson King kicked his first field goal to make the score 3-0 Mill Creek. Alpharetta managed to tie Mill Creek in the third quarter when they blocked King's next field goal attempt and ran the ball 94 yards for a touchdown, making it 24-24. But the Hawks quickly took the lead back on the next drive with just a few plays. And Mill Creek opened the fourth quarter with a quick score, extending the lead to 38-24. Alpharetta mounted …

Alpharetta moves on with win over Lassiter; Milton has its hands full with Walton.
High School Football Predictions Lassiter (7-3) at Alpharetta (9-1) Alpharetta’s break-through season has already been the best in the school’s short history. The Raiders have had their first nine-win season, first region championship (6-AAAAA) and first home playoff game. But to win their first playoff game, they’ll have to beat Lassiter, a high-scoring team that finished third in tough Region 5-AAAAA. Lassiter has lost two of its last three games, but has quality wins on its schedule, including a 14-6 season-opening win over defending champ Brookwood in the Georgia Dome. Alpharetta has made it a habit of pulling out games in the end (four wins have been by six points or less). The Raiders can’t afford to count on that in the playoffs. …

Eagles overcome Hornets 14-13 in final game of the season; they will play at Walton next week in the Class AAAAA playoffs.
The Roswell Hornets' hopes of ending their 2011 football season on a bright note by defeating rival Milton came to an abrupt end when the Eagles quarterback Colin McElroy connected with wide receiver Ryan Jenkins on a pass into the corner of the end zone with 18 seconds remaining in the game. That touchdown and extra point gave Milton a 14-13 victory over the Hornets. The win also gave Milton (4-6 overall, 3-3 in Region 6-AAAAA) a spot in next week's playoffs. The Eagles are the No. 4 seed from the region and will play at Walton, the No. 1 seed from Region 5-AAAAA, next week. Roswell had led the game from the second quarter when quarterback Casey Culver threw a touchdown pass to Bennett Barton for a 6-0 lead at the 8:24 mark of the second …
