The following students have been awarded academic honors for the recently completed fall semester at Piedmont College. Students named as Dean's Scholars for the semester have earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average, and students named to the Dean's List have earned a grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.99. Piedmont College is an independent liberal arts college of about 2,600 students with campuses located in Demorest and Athens, Ga. Founded in 1897, the college offers undergraduate degrees in 44 major areas and graduate degrees in education and business, including doctoral degrees in education.

Brenau Students Named to Dean's, Merit Lists Milton and Alpharetta students were named to the Dean's List at Brenau University for their academic performance during the fall term of the 2011-12 academic year. The local honorees are: Mary Elizabeth Donovan Steinhaus from Milton is a sophomore at Brenau. Steinhaus's major is theater arts with a musical theater emphasis. Kristen Anna McVey from Alpharetta is a freshman at Brenau. McVey's major is music education. Students named to the Merit List at Brenau University for outstanding academic performance during the fall term of the 2011-12 academic year. At its recent December commencement ceremony, Piedmont College in Demorest awarded degrees to 397 students. Among the graduates were the following Alpharetta residents: Nancy Therese Pappas earned a Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education Leshia Marie Reed earned an Education Specialist degree Jeanna M.
