Sweet Hound Looking for a Home

Meet "Jaffe," a male Hound-mix dog who is 4 to 5 years old and weighs approximately 78 pounds. This boy is a tad overweight right now, but his foster is helping him slim down a bit.  The vet says ideally he should weigh about 60 pounds. He was obviously overfed by his previous owners. He is neutered, house and crate-trained, up-to-date on shots and vetting and is microchipped.  Jaffe is good with non-reactive, easygoing dogs but he's not been around felines, so we don't know how he would react – most hound mixes find them fun to chase, so probably no kitties for his home.  He adores humans and attention from them.  This boy is okay with kids, but does best with older ones who know not to jerk bones and toys out of his mouth.  He can get a …

This week the Atlanta Humane Society wants to highlight our sweet, spunky Becca. Becca is a seven month old, domestic shorthair mix with the prettiest tabby coat. Her markings are very unique with a grey and orange tabby pattern alternating with solid white. Becca is very loving and enjoys snuggly beds and toys. She is extremely playful and would love to find a home committed to spending time playing with her. Becca can be a little shy initially but once she warms up she is spunky and cheerful. Loverboy Romeo Needs New Family

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue volunteers were very disappointed to receive a call from the adopters of Romeo, one of our all-time favorite cats, asking us to take him back. Three-year-old Romeo, a Russian Blue Mix, was adopted out two years ago to what we thought was his forever home. Sadly, his owners have fallen on financial hard times and their personal circumstances led to their difficult decision to relinquish Romeo back to us.  We gave Romeo his name because of his super loving personality. He loves to be with people, and one of the photos show him standing on his hind legs in order to be petted by his foster provider. Georgia: A Special Dog Finds Her Way Into Hearts

This mini-dachshund is waiting for you to adopt her from the Atlanta Humane Society's Mansell campus.

Sometimes there is one special dog that finds her way into the hearts of all she meets and Georgia is just that girl for the Atlanta Humane Society staff and volunteers. Georgia is a black and tan mini dachshund who is sweet, gentle, loves to be patted and sits in laps! This little girl is almost 3 years old and at 12 pounds is a good combination of playful energy mixed with the desire to relax and snuggle with her loved ones. Overall she is a calm dog who enjoys being carried and petted and has a very gentle demeanor. She has even been known to cheerfully wear sweaters! Georgia is also mostly hairless, which adds to her individuality. Although she is a long-haired dachshund, she has a genetic disorder that caused her hair to fall out. …

Humane Society Seeks Home for Shy Tabby

The Atlanta Humane Society Mansell Campus has been home to Baby Boy, a petite brown tabby.

Baby Boy is a sweet, gentle cat currently living at the Atlanta Humane Society and looking to find a family who will love and care for him forever. Baby Boy just turned one and is a petite brown tabby weighing only eight pounds. He is very shy and is a little overwhelmed by shelter living. Although he is adjusting to his new surroundings what Baby Boy really wants is a home of his own. Although he is a shy boy, once he realizes who his buddies are he is extremely affectionate. He loves to be petted and scratched. His little tail twitches with joy when he gets a little one on one time with the staff and volunteers. 'Supermodel' Pups Need a Home

Ava and Araceli are loving Chihuahua-Miniature Pincher 'designer dogs.'

Ava and Araceli were surrendered through no fault of their own. Their 85-year-old former owner was forced into a nursing home, and then her family took her five beloved Chihuahuas to a kill shelter to be put to sleep. Luckily, Angels Among Us Pet Rescue saved these sweet girls and their brothers the very morning that was scheduled to happened. Araceli, who is seven months old and about seven pounds of sheer joy and love, possesses a shining and gregarious personality. She loves to cuddle and insists on following her "person" everywhere. She is a real survivor – facing death while battling a terrible bout of the deadly parvovirus. The bonded pair have grown up together.

These two have grown up together and have lived their whole lives as a bonded pair and are looking for a home that is ready to provide them both with love and care. Homes Urgently Needed for Island Cats

Oreo and Banshee and friendly and personable.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue is trying to help two very friendly and personable cats who urgently need good homes. The request for assistance came from one of the rescue group's volunteers who is vacationing on Daufuskie Island in South Carolina. There are a number of managed feral cat colonies on the island, and their residents include Banshee and Oreo, two very friendly and domesticated cats who were most likely abandoned when their owners left the island. These guys are the favorite of the island's volunteer colony feeders, as they are super affectionate and run up for petting and attention whenever someone approaches them. Banshee and Oreo probably could have gone on indefinitely in this situation, but recently two free-roaming dogs …

Gentle Cat with Sweet Disposition Available at Humane Society

The Mansell Road campus of the Atlanta Humane Society in Alpharetta is looking for a good home for Ezra.

Ezra is a beautiful grey and white domestic shorthair mix who has been residing at the Atlanta Humane Society since early March. She is full of energy and spunk and is ready to find a home where she can get exercise, playtime and love. One of Ezra’s outstanding features is her petite face with large green eyes and a little grey splotch just to the side of her multi-colored nose.
