The Alpharetta Children's Easter Egg Hunt has been canceled for Saturday, March 23, due to inclement weather, the city announced on its website today. A call to the Adult Activity Center at North Park reveals the same bad news for children, but good news for parents who would have spent the rest of the day washing muddy clothes.

Alpharetta-Milton Patch will update the status of the event after a heavy downpour hit town early this moring, but call the Adult Activity Center at North Park (678-297-6140) if the weather is questionable. Children age 3 to 10 can participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Alpharetta's North Park softball fields 1-4 on Saturday, March 23. The hunt begins promptly at 11 a.m. Children will be divided into age groups as they "hunt" for thousands of plastic eggs filled with toys and candy. Alpharetta's North Park will host the World Series this year – the 2013 United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Fast Pitch World Recreational/ All Star Series. The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced that it won the bid for the event, which will be held in from July 16-21. This will be the first World Series brought to Alpharetta through the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. The CVB works year round attending trade shows and developing and maintaining relationships to bring these types of events to the city. They were able to connect with USSSA Fast Pitch World Series organizers at the recent USSSA Trade Show to bring the event to Alpharetta. The event was previously held in Alabama. As the teams …

North Park will become thehome of the Rotary Reflection Garden after Alpharetta approved of the project by the Rotary Club of North Fulton. The City of Alpharetta and the Alpharetta Recreation Commission approved construction of the Rotary Reflection Garden, which is the club's third project at the park. Alpharetta's North Park will host a Curing Kids Cancer Ladies Tennis Day on Thursday, Aug. 30. Hosted by the Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department, the tennis day will last from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The event will be held at the North Park Tennis Center in Alpharetta. It starts with more than two hours of drills featuring some of Atlanta's top professionals, according to a news release from the city. Drills will be followed by a little match play, a trip through sponsor village and lunch served at the courts. The cost to participate is $50 per person, with 10 percent of the event proceeds to benefit “Curing Kids Cancer,” a national organization that focuses on funding the best research treatments available for pediatric cancer. The AYFA Black Eagles were crowned NAFL 2nd Grade Division Champions on Saturday in the first title game of the day at Alpharetta's North Park. Mom Michelle D.
