Milton High Assistant Principal Heidi Ballog thanked the faculty, staff and students for participating in the North Fulton Community Charities Food Drive. "The volunteers said this is the most any high school has given yet," Ballog said in an email today. She shared a few shout outs as well: "Again, thank you Milton family for your generosity and have a wonderful Thanksgiving break," Ballog said.

The service organization donated money and computers to North Fulton Community Charities for its GED Scholarship fund and for its Education Center.
The Rotary Club of Alpharetta donated $800, computers to North Fulton Community Charities for their GED Scholarship fund, which will provide scholarships for five students to take the test. NFCC serves almost 5,000 low-income families in the communities of Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Mountain Park and Milton and recently expanded their services with the opening of an Education Center. All classes are free and are taught by volunteer instructors who are experts in their subject areas. The donation given by the Alpharetta Rotary will provide five scholarships to students who take classes at the NFCC Education Center to prepare for the GED, but cannot afford the $160 fee to take the test. North Fulton Community Charities (NFCC), whose mission it is to build self-sufficiency and prevent homelessness and hunger in the North Fulton community, recently elected several new officers and directors, as well as also welcoming four new board members. The newly elected officers include: The four new board members include: The organization also recognized retiring board member, Jeff Hamling, a Roswell attorney, who has served on the board in many roles including vice-president, executive committee and providing legal advice for 14 years. North Fulton Community Charities' new Education Center will provide a "hand up" for Fulton County residents.
North Fulton Community Charities held the ribbon cutting ceremony for their new Education Center on Wednesday. The center - which will be used for everything from education classes to job training - is staffed by more than 70 volunteers. NFCC began using the building in February and has already held more than 50 classes for 175 Fulton County residents. Prior to opening the new center, the NFCC Thrift store was being used to hold education classes. But thanks to generous donations from the Roswell, Alpharetta and Johns Creek communities, the new Education Center will operate across the street from the thrift store now. Only a day and a half remain in "Have a Heart" month for North Fulton Community Charities, but there are still plenty of chances to help the charity reach its $200,000 goal. Today, Alpine Bakery & Trattoria at 12315 Crabapple Rd. is donating 10 percent of its sales to NFCC. On Wednesday, four Sedgwick Group Restaurants will donate 10 percent of their sales to NFCC: Vinny's in Alpharetta Bistro VG in Roswell The Union in Milton Pure-Alpharetta Also on Wednesday, the organization will dedicate the NFCC Education Center at 11255 Elkins Rd., Roswell, which is across the street from NFCC offices and thrift store. Have a Heart month continues for the benefit of North Fulton Community Charities today, with a dance fitness class and a sub shop donating proceeds to the organization. RISPA holds a Zumba Class today from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at its North Main Street location. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Drive up GA 9 to the Target-Kohls shopping center and you'll find Firehouse Subs, which is donating 10 percent of sales to NFCC. (You can also visit the Roswell store at the intersection of GA 9 and Mansell Road.) NFCC is trying to raise $200,000 this month in Have a Heart month to keep its operations running as it meets the needs of families struggling with financial difficulties.

Just a little more than a week remains in Have a Heart Month for North Fulton Community Charities, an attempt by the organization to raise $200,000 to help meet the increasing demand for its services. Barbara Duffy, executive director for NFCC, said in an email plea, "We are in the homestretch of our 'Have A Heart for NFCC' campaign and still need your support. This week our local eateries are Having a Heart and supporting a great cause!" A good mix of food is available over the next three days, and a good chunk of your bill will go to NFCC. The Back to School fair at North Fulton Community Charities unites the community.
The Back to School Health and Wellness Fair, sponsored by North Fulton Community Charities, brought out hundreds of North Fulton families for some free fun and school supplies on Saturday morning. At first glance, the jumping castles, games, free prizes and appetizing food made it look like a small carnival had come to town and set up tents in the North Fulton Community Charities parking lot. But one look past the fair confirmed the main attraction was definitely school supplies. A long line of families waited patiently to choose backpacks full of school supplies.
