The Eagles shut down the Comets in the second half, but couldn't generate enough offense to overcome a 17-point deficit from the first half.

The Milton Eagles led the South Gwinnett Comets in almost every stat – time of possession, total yards, third-down conversions, fourth-down conversions and even Red Zone scoring chances. What they couldn't do in Friday night's first round playoff game is to lead in the stat that counts – scoring. The visiting Eagles lost at Snellville, with the Comets advancing to the second round on their 27-20 win. South Gwinnett took the opening kickoff and was driving in Milton territory when a fumble cost them the possession, according to stats provided by Bill Berry. But what seemed like momentum for the Eagles ended when the drive stalled and the Comets got the ball back after a punt. It was the first of 14 punts in the game, with each team's punter…

Cherokee homecoming was dampened by Milton's win, but in the end Cherokee Warriors and their fans showed that winning is more than just a game.
The Milton Eagles spoiled the Cherokee Warriors homecoming, but that didn't stop the home team from handing over thousands of dollars in donations to support a Milton coach who is battling cancer. Cherokee's homecoming (Canton, GA.) Friday night was a evening full of elegant gowns, tuxes and suits, a gift from Cherokee to Milton's Michael Scott Fund and a win by Milton 49-7. The Eagles opened the scoring with a touchdown pass in the first quarter and they continued scoring throughout the first half to lead at halftime 28-7. The Warriors Hunter Wingfield (jr.) led the offense and scored on a 9-yard run for the only score of the night for Cherokee. Halftime was filled with Homecoming Ceremonies as Nick Ragsdale and Samantha Holloway were …

A rivalry that reaches far deeper than just the happenings on the field did not fail to disappoint Friday night. The Hornets fell to region rival Milton 31-45 in the inaugural 5-AAAAAA region game of the season and are now 1-3 on the season.
EDITOR'S NOTE: This article about the Roswell vs. Milton game was written from the Hornets' side of the field. Eagles fans, add your comments about favorite moments of the game at the end of this article. The most dated rivalry in all of North Fulton added yet another chapter to its already robust almanac Friday night as the Roswell Hornets went head to head with the Milton Eagles for the 58th time in the two teams' 62-year rivalry, losing 31-45. The game, which was anything but devoid of scoring, seesawed for the majority of the night. But eventually, it came down to the dwindling minutes of the fourth quarter. Down 31-38, the Roswell defense, which forced several key stops as the game came to fruition, was able to stop the Eagle’s …

The Bears look for their first win, while the Raiders look to turn their season around.
Will the Cambridge Bears record their first win tonight against Osborne, another team without a win this season? Will Roswell or Milton win in this old-time rivalry? Can Alpharetta prevail against West Forsyth? The Cambridge Athletic Association seems to think it could be a big night for the Bears, as they face a Marietta team that lost three regular season games and both pre-season scrimmages. The Bears got their first points on the board, scoring 16 in a loss to undefeated South Forsyth last week. Obsorne lost two weeks ago to Campbell, 27-6, and had a bye week last Friday. @ Cambridge High Roswell Hornets vs. Milton Eagles Milton comes off a 52-24 win over Centennial last week, but the team hasn't been consistent. A 14-9 loss to Johns …

Though they are the most important parts of the game, there's more going on at a high school football game than the plays drawn up by coaches and executed – hopefully – by the players. Play the video to watch and listen as fans and the band at Milton High School get involved. Check back on Alpharetta-Milton Patch for video from the action on the field at the Johns Creek Gladiators vs. Milton Eagles varsity football game on Friday, Sept. 7.

Mary-Jane, My heart hurts and my prayers go out for you and your family tonight. My sons have always spoken highly of your husband and both became better athletes and men by having him as their coach. In my own personal interaction with Mike over the years, what impressed me was his genuine caring ways and a demeanor that I admired and respected as a mentor to my sons. He was a good guy. May God'…   more ›
