Milton Grad Makes Home Page of Facebook

Melissa Moore's picture was featured as she played a lacrosse game in Colorado on Thursday, May 9.

Former Milton High School Girls Lacrosse state champion player, Melissa Moore, was on the home page of Facebook this past week. The social media giant was featuring the US Lacrosse organization on Thursday, May 9. US Lacrosse happened to post a photo of Moore in a game against the University of Minnesota. Moore, whose University of Georgia (UGA) team was in Colorado playing for a national title, was chosen as the Atlanta area 2009 Andrew J. Oswald Memorial Scholarship Recipient for lacrosse. Moore, a UGA senior, stands at just 5-feet tall. "She plays against girls almost a foot taller without fear," her mom, Kathy Moore, told Alpharetta-Milton Patch in an e-mail. Alumni Lacrosse Players Invited to Classic

Hooch lacrosse program hosting Asa Adler Memorial Alumni Classic.

The Chattahoochee High School boys' lacrosse program will host the third-annual Asa Adler Memorial Alumni Lacrosse Classic on Dec. 15. Men's alumni players from Alpharetta, Centennial, Chattahoochee, Lassiter, Milton and Northview high schools will come together for a rousing afternoon full of competitive jamboree-style games.  Activities will begin at noon with lunch at the Chattahoochee pavilion catered by Shane's Rib Shack. Alumni players from all six high schools are encouraged to register to play. Spring Soccer, Lacrosse Registration Opens in Alpharetta Soon

Age divisions are for boys and girls in these programs

The City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department offers spring youth soccer and lacrosse leagues, and invites parents to register children for these fun recreational programs. A variety of age divisions are offered for boys and girls. Priority registration for spring soccer and lacrosse begins on Tuesday, Nov. 13.  Priority registration is defined as all City of Alpharetta residents plus any City of Milton resident who participated in the same recreation program with Alpharetta Parks and Recreation in 2012.  During priority registration, City of Alpharetta residents may register online, in person, by fax, or by emailing a completed Activity Registration Form to recreation@alpharetta.ga.us. North Fulton Boys Lacrosse Team Wins Alabama State Games

The U11 Milton Jokers, with players from Milton, Alpharetta and Roswell, were the first out-of-state team to win the gold medal.

A team of select all-star boys lacrosse players from Alpharetta, Milton and Roswell traveled to Birmingham, AL, for the Alabama State Games recently. Despite playing four games per day in temperatures above 100 degrees, the captured the gold medal by winning the U11 Lacrosse Championship. The U11 (11 years of age and under) Milton Jokers took part in the event that was sponsored by the United States Olympic Committee. The Alabama State Games are more than 30 years old and in 2012, more than 1,000 athletes participated, primarily from Alabama but also throughout the Southeast. This was the first time a Georgia team ever won a gold medal in the Alabama State Games. The Jokers have now earned the right to participate in the U.S. National …

Watch and Listen to the Sights and Sounds of Friday Night at Milton Stadium

Thousands of fans attended Friday night's high school football matchup between Alpharetta High and Milton High at the Eagles' stadium. It was alumni night for former band members, who were asked to participate in a pre-game show with the band. Those who lacked musical instruments were handed a kazoo. Halftime was filled with presentations, including a ceremony during which Milton's state champion girls varsity lacrosse team received rings for their title last school year. The girls were No. 1 in Georgia, No. 2 in the South, No. 13 in the nation by ESPN High School and No. 19 by U.S. Lacrosse magazine. The Lady Eagles won their sixth state title in seven years in 2011. Whiz Kids: Girls Eagle Stix Lacrosse

These Milton girls came in as the youngest team at the tournament and took first place.

The Whiz Kid feature for Alpharetta-Milton this week goes to a team of Lacrosse players in Milton called Eagle Stix Lacrosse. Who they are: These girls include Sarah Nee, Kim Hagerty, Savannah Cosman, Kate Winsness, Macy Roy, Lauren Pokallus, Ally Schnetzka, Kelly Hyman, Lauren Riley, Maddie Meitin, Courtney Hutchinson, Sydney Hutchinson, Jennifer Shield, Lauren Lambert, Emily Gilsdorf, Madison Roy, Elli Flagg, Hunter Hoard, Mackenzie Roy and Gwyneth Pokallus. Alpharetta Girls Dominate Collins Hill in Lacrosse Playoffs

Game delayed by lightning in second half.

In weather which at times resembled a torrential monsoon, the Alpharetta Lady Raiders lacrosse team hosted the Collins Hill Eagles in a first round GHSA playoff game on Tuesday. Collins Hill opened the scoring, taking a 1-0 lead at the 24:12 mark of the first half, but it was the last time that the Eagles would hold the lead.  Alpharetta answered with three quick goals of their own. The Eagles managed to draw even with the Raiders at 3-3 with 13:38 remaining in the first half. The Raiders then went on a scoring roll ending the first half with a 15-5 lead over Collins Hill. Alpharetta scored a single goal to take a 16-5 lead in the second half before play was halted due to lightning with a little more than ten minutes remaining in the game…

Milton Defeats Westminster in Legacy Lacrosse Cup

The Lady Eagles come up with a win for the first game of the Legacy Lacrosse Cup this weekend, April 15-16.

The Milton High School girl’s lacrosse team had home field advantage when they defeated the Westminster girl’s lacrosse team 13-9 Friday, April 15, which was also the start of the fourth annual Legacy Lacrosse Cup which is being held at Milton and surrounding parks over the weekend. The Lady Wildcats came into the match on a 15-game winning streak holding the second place ranking in the state, while the first place Lady Eagles only had a nine game winning streak. The game started out quick with the Eagles making their first goal in 21 seconds. The Wildcats responded in the same manner driving down the field scoring their first goal with a little over 24 minutes remaining in the first half. Each of the goals made at the beginning of the …
