The St. Francis Knights will be down Cogburn Road at home looking for their first win.
The King's Ridge Christian Tigers are undefeated and have scored at least 45 points in each of their three victories. Tonight they host Darlington The Tigers beat Pinecrest Academy in their home opener 45-7. A week later, their Cogburn Road "neighbor," St. Francis High, fell victim to King's Ridge, who held the Knights scoreless in a 49-0 victory. Last week wasn't much different, with Pace Academy scoring the most ponts against the Tigers so far in a 48-20 King's Ridge win. Darlington is 1-2 this season, but the Rome team is coming off a big victory against Chattooga, 31-7. Losses to Christian Academy of Knoxville (42-23) and Cartersville (28-7) got these other Tigers off to a bad start on the season. It's Tigers vs. Tigers at King's Ridge…

The King's Ridge Christian Tigers only had to travel a short ways down Cogburn Road for their away game, so it stands to reason they wouldn't be tired from the trip. And they showed no evidence of travel weariness in their 49-0 defeat of the St. Francis Knights in a non-conference game on Friday night, Sept. 7. Benaiah Franklin and Julian Champ both scored touchdowns early, making it 13-0 in the first quarter. Another TD in the second brought the score to 19-0 with 8 minutes left in the first half. Terez Miller made the first of two big runs on that night that alone gave him more than 100 yards rushing. His 60-yard TD rush in the second quarter was the fourth TD for the Tigers. With an extra point kick by Connor Burns, the score rose to …

The Junior Varsity Mens Alpharetta Raiders (10-3 overall) beat the Centennial Knights (9-5 overall) on Tuesday at Alpharetta High School. The JV Raiders came out victorious with a score of 54-50, but the game lead changed multiple times and it could have gone either way. The Raider's Bryan Roberts led all scorers with 18 points, but this writer must mention the amazing first half contributions of Grant Davis. Rebounds, blocked shots, steals, layups – he did it all and his efforts made a difference in a game that was not decided until the last few seconds. Afam Maduka of Alpharetta also contributed in the rebounding efforts on both ends. Centennial gets credit for playing a great game and having a 100 percent free throw percentage–…

Alpharetta High's loss is Centennial High's gain. Jeffrey Carlberg has been named the new head coach at Centennial High School after spending the last two seasons as Alpharetta’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. “I’m just excited,” said Carlberg of being named the new Centennial head coach. “I can’t wait to wrap my arms around the program and get people excited about football at Centennial.” Last season with Alpharetta, Carlberg’s defense shut down the Knights after Centennial jumped out to an early lead as the Raiders went on to win the 2011 region title. Now, he will be charged with getting the team back into the playoffs for the third time in four years. Centennial athletics director Phil Thomas, who conducted the search …
