Alpharetta Hotel Completes $3 Million Renovation

The Atlanta Marriott Alpharetta is a full-service hotel on Windward Parkway next to GA 400.

Atlanta Marriott Alpharetta recently completed a $3 million transformation, according to PRNewswire. The renovation includes "updates to cutting-edge guest rooms and suites, vibrant guest room corridors, a revitalized Concierge Lounge and brand new indoor/outdoor pool furniture," the release states. Visitors to the hotel, whether as guests working at local corporate offices, or employees from some of those same corporations holding seminars within its facilities have seen the work since it began Aug. 4, 2012. Renovated guest rooms provide plush bedding and 300-thread-count sheets, as well as wireless Internet access, plug-in technology and 37-inch flat-screen TVs. Value Place Alpharetta Opens, Invites Public to Celebration

The McFarland Road extended stay hotel has a grand opening on Feb. 7 with prizes, but you have to RSVP.

Is the economy on the rebound? It appears the local economy may be, as Value Place Alpharetta is holding its grand opening Thursday, Feb. 7 at its McFarland Parkway location. The extended stay hotel opened its doors recently, and will have the grand opening from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with a ribbon cutting, food, tours and prizes. The public is open, but you must RSVP. The hotel will give away a 26-inch TV, an iPad and gift cards. But you have to be there to win. Conference Center in Alpharetta Might be Feasible

A consultant said the best success would be a public-private venture with a hotel.

 Alpharetta's consultant researching the viability of a convention and conference center told City Council a joint public/private project with a hotel has the most chance for success. Mark Woodworth, president of PKF Consulting, also told council the 25 performing arts centers in the region make it unlikely another one in Alpharetta could be successful. "We've done a considerable amount of work over these past three plus or minus months," Woodworth said. He said the study envisions the project would become operational on or about January 2016. If a project is developed, Woodworth said it should be professionally managed. It also needs to be viewed as being a state-of-the-art facility by meeting planners to attract conferences and …

Value Place Resumes Construction on Hotel

'Squeaky clean' chain finds new financing after first bank was closed by the FDIC.

Contractors are heading back to the unfinished hotel on McFarland Road off GA 400 exit 12 to get the Value Place hotel open as early as June 1. David Redfern, president of Value Place Management Services, said a problem with the local bank delayed the project. The FDIC and the state closed the bank, and it took time to unravel the financing and find a new bank. “Due the FDIC taking over the original local bank, construction was stalled. We have since obtained new financing from Equity Bank and construction resumed on Feb. 1,” said Value Place President and COO Kyle Rogg. Alpharetta Convention and Vistiors Bureau Names a New Chairman

The head of Atlanta's Hotel Equities will lead the board of directors starting July 1.

Fred Cerrone will be the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) board of directors chairman starting July 1. Cerrone is president and CEO of Hotel Equities of Atlanta, a full-service hotel management company providing management, development and consulting for more than 40 hotels throughout the United States. The Alpharetta CVB hosted its 2011 annual meeting at the Metropolitan Club this week, with general managers from Alpharetta’s 23 hotels, the Alpharetta CVB Board of Directors, Alpharetta City Council and staff participating, according to the CVB's report.
