What Will Be Closed for New Year's?

Just a week after Christmas comes the New Year's holiday, and most government offices will be closed again on Tuesday, with a few even closed on Monday.

We've barely finished with Christmas and it's time to start planning for New Year's. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 is a holiday, and governmental agencies, financial institutions and most service businesses are likely to be closed. Alpharetta will close all of its facilities, including City Hall, the Community Center and the Crabapple Government Center, at noon on Monday, Dec. 31. Trash pickup in Alpharetta will be on the regular Monday schedule on New Year's Eve, with no delays. No garbage pickup will be done on New Year's Day, which pushes collections forward a day for the rest of the week, with Tuesday pick ups on Wednesday, Wednesday on Thursday and Friday's pick ups on Saturday. Fulton County, Alpharetta Open, Milton, Fulton Schools Closed

While federal offices will be closed today in observance of President's Day, about half of the local government offices will remain open.

The President's Day Holiday closings list is a mixed bag, with schools, banks and Milton City Hall closed. But Alpharetta and Fulton County will open for normal business hours today. Oddly, the state of Georgia does observe Washington's birthday–but on Dec. 24. So state offices are open today. Closed today, Feb. 20: Open today:
