So few people who live in Milton are natives, that it's hard to find somebody who knows the real history of the area. But North Fulton has Connie Mashburn to tell us how it was, and he'll be sharing stories at the Crabapple Community Association on Thursday, April 11 at the Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub. The Crabapple Community Association will host their social this Thursday at Olde Blind Dog at 6:30 p.m. Masburn, author of "Alpharetta-Milton County the Early Years," will be the speaker. "He will take us on an exciting journey of our community's history and discuss how Crabapple has evolved over the years," according to Peyton Jamison of the Crabapple Community Association. This event is free to attend.

What is now Milton and Alpharetta once was part of Cherokee County, a piece of history that Norman Broadwell of the Alpharetta Historical Society will bring to life with his program on When We Were Cherokee on Thursday, Oct. 18. As part of Cherokee County, a significant pattern of settlement was established that strongly influenced social, economic and political activity for years to come, according to a release from the Alpharetta Historical Society. When We Were Cherokee discusses the land lotteries, settlement patterns, pioneer and native families, and related factors that impacted daily life. But it won't be a lecture by Broadwell. He will have the audience taking part in a mock land lottery, and they'll get to say “hello” to some …
