MaxPreps Names Milton Eagle to 2012 All-American Football Team

Carl Lawson, a senior who played on the defensive line, was the only North Fulton high school player who earned the honor.

Carl Lawson, a member of the Milton High Eagles varsity football team, was one of three Georgians named to the first team defense on the MaxPreps 2012 All-American Football Team. "The Class Region 5-AAAAAA Defensive Player of the Year, the Auburn commit amassed a whopping 26 sacks as a senior," according to a story by MaxPreps' Stephen Spiewak. The 6-feet, 3 inch, 245-pound Lawson played his senior season on the defensive line. Other George first team defensive players were: A few Georgians also were named to the second team by MaxPreps.

North Beats South as Seniors Showcase Talents in Chamber Bowl

All Stars compete one last time in the North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club's fourth annual game.

The North squad held on to beat the South team by a score of 30-22 in the North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club's fourth annual Chamber Bowl All-Star game. Senior All-Stars from high schools all over the North Fulton and Forsyth County area were divided into a North and South squad and competed in a hard fought game that was not decided until the final seconds of the game. After a rough couple of outings in the last two years, the North squad made a statement in the first half by taking a 24-7 lead into the locker room.  In the middle of the third quarter, the lead had grown to 30-7, but the South squad did not go away quietly. Chattahoochee's Terry Crowder got his South All-Stars to refocus as they made a big comeback to make it a one score…

The Chamber Bowl All-Star Game Puts Players Back on the Field

The North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club gives high school seniors from the two counties another chance to impress college scouts.

Students from King's Ridge Christian and St. Francis High schools are among the football players taking part in The Chamber Bowl All-Star Game at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22 at Lambert High School in Suwanee (South Forsyth). King's Ridge Christian School St. Francis High School This game provides seniors with an opportunity to play one last game during their high school career and also serves as an opportunity to showcase their talent, according to the organizers. Players from all over the North Fulton and Forsyth county area will be represented in the game. For a complete roster, check out the attached pdf file. Milton Eagle's Lawson Nominated for Player of the Year Award

The local high school athlete was one of four Georgia students selected.

The Milton High School Eagles' Carl Lawson was one of four Georgia high school football players nominated to the 2013 U.S. Army Player of the Year Award on Monday, Nov. 26. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee has nominated 16 high school seniors for the award, considered high school football's highest honor. The six finalists for the award will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 28. The U.S. Army Player of the Year will be crowned during the U.S. Army Awards Dinner on Jan. 4, 2013, in San Antonio. The winner will be presented with the Ken Hall Trophy, modeled after Ken "Sugar Land Express" Hall, high school football's all-time leading rusher. North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club Honors High School Athletes

The final banquet of the year takes the awards into the playoffs.

High school football players were honored Monday night, Nov. 19, by the North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club at its final Player of the Week Dinner for the 2012 season. High school athletes, their families and their coaches gathered at The Metropolitan Club to celebrate some of the best performances in high school football. The North Fulton Forsyth Touchdown Club recognized high school football players at its final Player of the Week Dinner of the 2012 season. The NFFTD Club welcomed former University of Georgia Bulldog and retired Army Colonel Michael Steele as he spoke to the players and their families. Milton Loses Football Playoff to South Gwinnett, 27-20

The Eagles shut down the Comets in the second half, but couldn't generate enough offense to overcome a 17-point deficit from the first half.

The Milton Eagles led the South Gwinnett Comets in almost every stat – time of possession, total yards, third-down conversions, fourth-down conversions and even Red Zone scoring chances. What they couldn't do in Friday night's first round playoff game is to lead in the stat that counts – scoring. The visiting Eagles lost at Snellville, with the Comets advancing to the second round on their 27-20 win. South Gwinnett took the opening kickoff and was driving in Milton territory when a fumble cost them the possession, according to stats provided by Bill Berry. But what seemed like momentum for the Eagles ended when the drive stalled and the Comets got the ball back after a punt. It was the first of 14 punts in the game, with each team's punter…

Alpharetta Falls to Mill Creek in Football Playoffs, 41-39

The Raiders came from behind to take the lead with just over 2 minutes left, but fell to a field goal with 7 seconds left on the clock.

Alpharetta High seemed poised for a storybook ending to their first round playoff game against the Mill Creek Hawks Friday night, but the visting team ended the Raiders playoff hopes with a field goal with only 7 seconds left, winning 41-39. The Raiders had trailed ever since the second quarter when the Hawks Bryson King kicked his first field goal to make the score 3-0 Mill Creek. Alpharetta managed to tie Mill Creek in the third quarter when they blocked King's next field goal attempt and ran the ball 94 yards for a touchdown, making it 24-24. But the Hawks quickly took the lead back on the next drive with just a few plays. And Mill Creek opened the fourth quarter with a quick score, extending the lead to 38-24. Alpharetta mounted …

Milton Defeats Woodstock Wolverines, 42-14

The Eagles play South Gwinnett in the first round of the 2012-2013 GHSA Class AAAAAA State Football Championship.

The Milton Eagles ended their regular football season with a win, defeating the Woodstock Wolverines, 42-14. Milton High School is 7-3 on the regular season, and 5-2 in league play. Woodstock is 3-7, and 3-4 in league play. Milton travels to South Gwinnett in the first round of playoffs. The Comets are 9-2 and 7-1 in league play. First round playoff games will be held on Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17. Statistics provided by Bill Berry show the home team never trailed, and kept the visiting Wolverines out of the end zone until the third quarter. At the half if was 28-0. Peyton Barber had runs of 8, 27 and 60 yards for touchdowns. His first came in a 36-yard drive by the Eagles early in the first quarter. He followed up a little less…

King's Ridge Tigers Fall to Whitefield Academy

The high school football team loses in a league game, 21-10.

The King's Ridge Christian Tigers traveled to Mableton Friday night to battle Whitefield Academy on the gridiron, falling 21-10 in the league game. The Tigers are now 4-5 on the season and 2-4 in league play.

Alpharetta Raiders Beat Centennial Knights, 41-23

The Alpharetta Raiders earned their fifth straight win against the Centennial Knights on Friday night, outscoring the visitors 41-23. Alpharetta is 6-3 overall, and 5-1 in league play. The Raiders close out their regular season on Nov. 9 at Johns Creek, which comes off a 34-7 victory over West Forsyth. Johns Creek is 8-1 on the season, but shares the league lead with Alpharetta and West Forsyth with a 5-1 league record. West Forsyth plays Lambert, which is 5-4 and only 2-4 in league play. West Forsyth beat both Alpharetta and Johns Creek earlier this season, which will figure in playoff matchups. Centennial plays Chattahoochee on Thursday, Nov. 8 in a game televised by WSB-TV. The Knights are looking for their fourth win, and are 3-6 …
