The Eagles beat the Shiloh Generals 72-52, and will face North Gwinnett on Saturday.
Milton High advances in the state basketball playoffs with its win Wednesday night, Feb. 29, against the Shiloh Generals, 72-52. Tevin Glass again had an outstanding game, leading all scorers with 25 points. Three other Eagles were in double figures as well. Shaquille Johnson and Charles Mann each had 14 points, with Jalyn Patterson putting in 10. Evan Nolte added 9 points to close out the scoring for Milton. CJ Keyes and Robert Carter Jr. each had 10 points for the Generals. Trayvon Reed put in 9 points and Jordan Gaither had 8. The Eagles came out in the second half ahead, 37-25, which might explain why they were a little flat in the third period. The Alpharetta Raiders continue to win in their first trip to the state boys basketball playoffs, beating Peachtree Ridge Lions 80-69 on Wednesday night, Feb. 29. Alpharetta High School's Ty Toney led all scorers with 36 points, but the Lions gave him a helping hand reaching that total, sending him to the line 21 times. Almost all of those came in the final minutes–16 in the fourth period with 12 sinking into the basket–as Peachtree Ridge fought for a way to gain ball control. Toney was 17 for 21 at the free throw line. He added eight two pointers and a single three to reach 36 points. Other Raiders in double figures were Carlos Burse with 25 and Bjorn Walker with 10. It's great to be a Raider, boosters are saying as the Alpharetta High School Men's Varsity team qualifies for the Georgia basketball playoffs, a first in school history. North Fulton rival Roswell High took the loss that put Alpharetta into the state playoffs. The Varsity Men’s basketball team won Tuesday night over Roswell in the first round of the Region Tournament, 68-38. Even with these individual standouts the win was a total team effort, boosters reported. Next up is the semifinal game against the highly ranked Milton High Eagles Friday. The regional tournament is being played at West Forsyth High, with the game scheduled at 8:30 p.m.

Tevin Glass scores 19 points in the second half to lead the Eagles to a 65-60 win.
Top-ranked Milton’s visit to Wheeler turned into a battle of senior big men Tevin Glass and Chuck Mitchell. Wheeler's Mitchell won the battle Saturday night, but Milton won the AAAAA war in East Cobb, 65-60. It was the 14th consecutive win for Milton (18-4), whose only on-court loss came at home Dec. 10 against Tift County, 57-52. But it was the first time all season that the Eagles won by fewer than 11 points. Against Wheeler (10-8), Milton never led by more than 11. “Won tonight over a talented and young Wheeler team,” Milton Coach David Boyd tweeted. Mitchell was the biggest reason a Wheeler lineup packed with freshmen and sophomores made it so close. He scored a game-high 30 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and grabbed 12 …

The Junior Varsity Mens Alpharetta Raiders (10-3 overall) beat the Centennial Knights (9-5 overall) on Tuesday at Alpharetta High School. The JV Raiders came out victorious with a score of 54-50, but the game lead changed multiple times and it could have gone either way. The Raider's Bryan Roberts led all scorers with 18 points, but this writer must mention the amazing first half contributions of Grant Davis. Rebounds, blocked shots, steals, layups – he did it all and his efforts made a difference in a game that was not decided until the last few seconds. Afam Maduka of Alpharetta also contributed in the rebounding efforts on both ends. Centennial gets credit for playing a great game and having a 100 percent free throw percentage–…

whatever school they played for the Championships should receive the trophy and the rings. GHSA should pay for them for allowing this to happen. I feel for the kids at Milton, you just don't bring kids "from the other side of the track" or anywhere just to receive schlorships and to receive Championships. Whatever happened to "Academics" What happened to teaching children "morals".   more ›
