Sheriff's Office Investigating Death of Baby - Canton-Sixes Patch The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a baby in a Cherokee County home Monday morning. Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker confirmed that deputies are investigating the circumstances that lead to the baby's death. An autopsy and toxicology screen will be performed on the baby today. "Hopefully the autopsy will give detectives more clues into the death of the child," Lt. Baker wrote in an e-mail to Patch.
