The K-9 Support Golf Tournament's goal is to raise enough funds to buy a police dog to replace a retiring canine officer.
Golfers have a great reason to hit the links on May 1, as the City of Milton Police Department will hold a “K-9 Support” golf tournament to raise funds for a new K-9 officer to replace a retired police dog. Officer Ara Baronian said since DaSilva’s retirement in late 2012 after six years of service to the department, Milton has been without a needed K-9, according to the release on the city's website. DaSilva was privately donated to the city from residents, and the department needs help again to ensure effective policing. “The profound advantage of having a K9 officer to find missing children, the elderly, evidence and criminals is without dispute,” said Baronian. “Come out and enjoy a day of golf, food and fun so we can keep the Milton …

Sports greats turn out for Daniel Hager Memorial Tournament, which funds a scholarship for students planning to attend Georgia Tech.
Sunny skies provided an ideal backdrop for today's 5th annual Daniel Hager Memorial Celebrity Golf Tournament at St. Ives Country Club, hosted by former Atlanta Braves Manager Bobby Cox. Taking place in Johns Creek for the first time, the tournament is a tribute to Daniel Hager, a Georgia Tech grad who died in a car accident in 2005. "It all started on a trip to Mexico with Gerry and Kaye Litzinger (Hager's stepfather and mother)," Cox told Patch regarding his participation as chair of the tournament. "When he was killed in the accident we were in a cab together in Mexico. Kaye told me that she would like to do something in memory of her son. She was thinking of a scholarship fund at Georgia Tech where Daniel was a graduate. She asked me …
