Fifteen Die in Holiday Traffic Accidents Across Georgia
The Georgia State Patrol reports 15 traffic fatalities statewide over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, compared to 13 for the same period last year.
During the 102-hour travel weekend that began on Wednesday at 6 p.m. through Sunday at midnight, there were 15 fatalities statewide over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety . Last year the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) reported 437 crashes, 397 injuries and 8 fatalities. Statewide in 2010, with all agencies reporting, there were 13 fatalities, 2,571 crashes and 1,099 injuries reported. The fatalities over the weekend included three from the GSP Post in Cartersville, one from the GSP Post in Blue Ridge, one from the GSP Post in Toccoa, one from Gwinnett County Police, one from Columbus Police, one from GSP Post in Forsyth (Georgia), four from GSP Post in Villa Rica, one from Richmond County …
