Academy Street Reopened

A gas main break caused the road closure during the evening commute time, but it has since been fixed and the road reopened.

UPDATE: The section of Academy Street closed because of a gas main break has reopened. A section of Academy Street is closed between Westside Parkway and GA 9 because of a gas main break, according to Alpharetta Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard. Find alternate routes, such as Old Milton Parkway, or go north and use Windward Parkway. Construction crews struck the line while working on a road construction project.  Utility crews have been notified and are in route. There is currently no estimate as to when the road section may reopen.

Another Gas Line Rupture Closes Portion of Shirley Bridge Road

Contractors cause gas line break, forcing another road closure.

UPDATED 10:20 A.M.: Atlanta Gas Light crews are now on the scene of the gas line break that has closed a portion of Shirley Bridge Road, according to James Drinkard, Alpharetta's assistant city administrator. Repairs should be completed and the road reopened within the hour. Motorists are advised to select alternate routes to avoid the area until 11 a.m. The city closed the portion of Shirley Bridge Road located between Webb Bridge Road and Clipper Bay Drive due to a natural gas line break caused by contractors working in the area, according to an earlier alert issued by the city. Just a day earlier, a crew working on a Fulton County water main ruptured a different gas line along Kimball Bridge Road. That road reopened late last night.

Water Crew Ruptures Gas Line, Closing Part of Kimball Bridge

The city has closed the road from Westside to Northwinds until repairs are made.

Kimball Bridge Road has been closed by the city of Alpharetta from Westside Parkway to Northwinds Parkway becauser of a gas leak. Fulton County crews working on a water main in the area struck and ruptured a gas line, according to Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard. Utility crews have been notified; however, no estimated duration for the road closure is available at this time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Webb Bridge Intersection Reopens to Traffic After Gas Leak

Alpharetta reports the leak had forced the road closure at the Southlake Drive/Park Bridge Parkway intersection until repairs were made.

UPDATE 7 P.M.: The intersection of Webb Bridge Road with Shirley Bridge Road and Park Bridge Parkway has reopened now that the gas leak has been repairs. UPDATE 3:45 P.M. Alpharetta High School has sent out an advisory to parents to expect transportation delays because of the gas line break that has kept the Webb Bridge Road intersection with Park Bridge Parkway and Shirley Bridge Road closed to traffic. Commuters heading home may get caught up in the traffic mess as well. The gas line break was first reported shortly after noon today, Sept. 9. Repairs were expected to take three to four hours.
