The highway connects I-575 to GA 400 in Forsyth County
The Georgia Department of Transportation wants to hear from Cumming and Forsyth County residents on how State Route 20 should be improved. GDOT will hold a pubilc meeting Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Otwell Middle School Cafeteria at 605 Tribble Gap Road in Cumming to review potential improvements that could be made to the highway from I-575 in Canton to Georgia 400. The GA 400 toll plaza is expected to come down on November 21, 2013.
Alpharetta and Milton commuters who travel on GA 400 and who are use to using the toll booth will have another reason to give thanks on Thanksgiving – there will be no toll booth. The State Road and Tollway Authority said on Thursday the toll plaza will come down on Nov. 21, reports WSBTV.com. Gov. Deal: GA 400 Tolls End in December 2013 Last summer Gov. Nathan Deal promised an end to the tolls by Dec. 1, 2013, saying that bonds issued by the state will be paid off by that time, allowing the tolls to be removed. But it looks like that measure has been moved to a week before Thanksgiving, weather permitting. The public is being asked to offer opinions on high-capacity transit that could reach the Forsyth County line in North Fulton at a meeeting in Roswell on Thursday, March 21.
Hoping to get input from the community, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will host a public meeting on Thursday, March 21, south of Alpharetta and Milton in Roswell to review the Georgia 400 Corridor Transit Initiative. The GA 400 Corridor Transit Initiative: Alternatives Analysis involves investigating the need for high-capacity transit connections between the Perimeter Center area near the interchange of I-285 and GA 400 in the City of Sandy Springs and McGinnis Ferry Road in northern Fulton County. The commute home is getting longer than usual with roadways being blocked as severe thunderstorms continue to affect motorists.
The drive home today is becoming more dangerous as flooding makes wet roads even more dangerous. Lanes on GA 400 have been closed at times as flooding and accidents clog traffic. GA 400 northbound, just south of Northridge Road, has the left and middle thre lanes of four blocked. Georgia Department of Transportation officials expect it to be cleared by 4:30 p.m. An accident just north of the Northridge interchange had one lane blocked, but it has cleared.

The accident that happened before 8:30 a.m. today is being cleared, and lanes are reopening.
Two lanes have reopened after a five-vehicle accident on GA 400 northbound at Old Milton Parkway just before 8:30 a.m. today, Dec. 12. Traffic is still heavily backed up because of the wreck, said George Gordon, Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman.

What police are reporting as a grass fire, and WSB-TV reports as a mulch fire is sending smoke across GA 400 in south Forsyth this morning. The smoke could cause problems for motorists during the morning commute. The fire is on the west side of GA 400 between exit 12 (McFarland Road) and exit 13 (GA 141/Peachtree Parkway). The smoke affects both northbound and southbound lanes of GA 400.

Accidents, candidate visit snarl traffic in Alpharetta, on GA 400 and through Atlanta up to Cobb.
While Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan makes his way from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport up to the Cobb Energy Center during today's rush hour, Alpharetta motorists have their own problems. An accident had two westbound lanes of Windward Parkway blocked on the east side of GA 400. Drivers heading north of Windward have the usual packed lanes bumper to bumper as traffic backs up from the McFarland interchange, where GA 400 narrows to two lanes. For two hours all the northbound and southbound tolls will be paid, with Harry the Hawk and Atlanta Hawks cheerleaders on hand.
Even if you never watch the game you'll appreciate the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday morning, as the team is paying for all tolls on GA 400. From 7 a.m.-9 a.m., the Atlanta Hawks will sponsor northbound and southbound tolls, including the 50 cent and cashier lanes, and the Cruise Card/Peach Pass lanes. The transit agency continues its study of the GA 400 corridor from I-285 north to McGinnis Ferry Road, and stopped in Alpharetta to get input from local business and community officials.
More than 90 of North Fulton's business and community leaders heard an update last Thursday on a study by MARTA in its Connect 400 Transit Initiative, and now the transit agency wants your input. Check your history. Marta was not welcome north of I-285 for many years and those comunities continue to seperate themselves from Fulton county. Why do these countys continue to drain Fulton's resourses? Ga 400 was ment to address the traffic issues in that area along with other improvments.
