North Fulton Chamber Members Bring Food for Fun

The chamber's week-long food drive turned into a party Thursday night with 'Summer Jam,' a chance for members to make food donations and socialize.

The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce held a party Thursday night, and the price to get will go directly to hungry people in the community. Every "Summer Jam" attendee was asked to bring a food donation for North Fulton Community Charities' (NFCC) food pantry. The chamber offices were overflowing with the crowd, most coming straight from their own offices to the event, or perhaps with one stop at a local grocery store. This event was part of the chamber's week-long food drive for NFCC. The food drive culminates with an active push from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. today to fill the charity's truck that will be in the parking lot at the chamber offices off Haynes Bridge Road at Rainwater Drive. Summer Food Drive for NFCC Sponsored by Chamber

The North Fulton Chamber of Commerce hosts a Summer Jam on Thursday during its week-long food drive, and a food donation is all it costs to attend.

The week-long Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Food Drive is in its second day, as the business organization works to stock the shelves of a local food pantry. Everybody thinks of those struggling to survive the weak economy with no jobs or low-income positions during the cooler winter months near the holidays. But during the summer, it's easy to forget the need. "Their need grows during the summer months as children are home from school," the chamber's release on the food drive said. School children receive reduced cost or free breakfast and lunch during the school year, but not in the summer. The chamber's food drive helps stock the shelves of North Fulton Community Charities, which in turn provides food to a growing number of …

More Groceries Needed in Alpharetta for Food Drive

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce will collect food until 3 p.m. for North Fulton Community Charities.

North Fulton residents have been stopping by First Citizens Bank on Haynes Bridge Road to drop off food in the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce Summer Food Drive, but organizers say there's still more need. Summer donations are low because so many people are on vacation, according to Kendra Plotkin of the chamber, who organized the food drive. The lack of subsidized lunches over the summer because school is out of session makes the need great for the area's children in poorer homes.. To make sure the most need is met, the chamber and North Fulton Community Charities, the beneficiary of the food drive, identified the top six most immediate needs: That might get you hungry, but not to worry.
