First reported as a kidnapping, Johns Creek police believe Aftab Aslam sent the text message claiming he was kidnapped.
Three law enforcement agencies have been searching for a 19-year-old Johns Creek man since last Saturday; now they are asking for help from the public in finding him. Aftab M. Aslam, who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 165 pounds and has medium-length black hair, was first reported as being kidnapped on April 27 at 10 a.m. Johns Creek Police responded to his Morton Crossing address, where officers were told he was missing from his home. "Aslam’s family reported that they had received a phone text stating that he had been kidnapped," a news release from the city said. The public is being asked to help locate and identify the armed robber of a BB&T branch on North Point Parkway.
The FBI and Alpharetta police are asking for the public's help to find a man responsible for the armed robbery of the BB&T Branch on North Point Parkway on Monday. A lone black male entered the branch at 5690 North Point Parkway at approximately 9:53 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 11, and announced a robbery. According to an FBI blog, the robber placed a handgun onto the teller counter. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank without further incident. Special Agent in Charge Mark F. If you didn't see much of Alpharetta police Captain Kirk Harth during the last quarter of 2012, there was a good reason. Harth attended the FBI's National Academy program in Quantico, VA, and he's now a graduate. Attendance to the FBI National Academy is by invitation only, Alpharetta Department of Public Safety spokesman George Gordon said in a news release today. Each candidate must be nominated by their agency executive. The candidate undergoes an FBI background investigation and interview process. Less than one percent of all law enforcement officers will be approved to attend the FBI National Academy. Fourteen defendants – including an Alpharetta resident – have been indicted for drug trafficking and money laundering crimes after a multi-agency investigation, U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates, and the David G. Wilhelm Organized Crime Drug Enforcement (OCDETF) Strike Force announced in a news release today. A federal grand jury returned two indictments charging the 14 defendants on July 25. The indictments were unsealed on Aug. 1, in conjunction with a sweep aimed at arresting those charged. Today U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan J. Baverman conducted a detention hearing for one group of defendants, and ordered that each defendant be detained.
