EndoChoice Honors Heroes During Their Week

The Alpharetta company is making a donation in the four medical professional's names.

An Alpharetta company is honoring four GI (Gastroenterology) professionals who were picked as EndoHeroes in 2012. EndoChoice made the announcement through Marketwire in recorgnition of GI Nurses Day. Each EndoHero will have a donation made in their name to the GI society or department they choose. The four recognized by EndoChoice are: Major Joan Davis, RN, Montefiore Medical Center, New York, NY -– serves with U.S. Army Reserve/Army Nurse Corps, including a one-year tour in Iraq, plus community involvement and humanitarian missions. GM Starts Hiring for North Fulton IT Innovation Center

Between GM, EndoChoice and HP, North Fulton could be adding 1,400 jobs.

Corporations have plans to add as many as 1,400 jobs in North Fulton, starting with GM's announcement today that it has purchased the former UPS building in Roswell with plans to open an IT Innovation Center employing 1,000 people. HP announced early this week that it would move its Customer Solution Center to its Alpharetta campus, creating 200 jobs. EndoChoice entered a merger and acquired a company, with plans to hire as well. Al Nash of Progress Partners Atlanta said many of the 200 or so new hires by EndoChoice are expected in Alpharetta. EndoChoice Starts 2013 with Merger, German Acquisition

The Alpharetta firm closed on $43 million, merged with Peer Medical Ltd., and then bought a German endoscope manufacturer.

A few days after Alpharetta-based EndoChoice Inc. closed a $43 million fund-raising round, and was part of a merger, it has announced the company has acquired RMS Endoskopie-Technik, an endoscope manufacturer headquartered in Elmshorn, Germany near Hamburg. EndoChoice is a platform-technology company focused on gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy. RMS was founded in 1995 and develops, manufactures and repairs video endoscopes. RMS is aggressively recruiting experienced engineers and technicians to support substantial expansion in the coming months. Two Alpharetta companies are among those ranked in Inc. Magazine's Hire Power Awards, which recognize private businesses that have generated the most jobs in the past three years. EndoChoice, a platform technology company focused on gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, and IPG, an Implantable Device Benefit Management (DBM) company that handles device coordination, billing, replacement, tracking, and other services for health plans are featured in the inaugural ranking of Inc. Alpharetta's Edge Solutions No. 3 on Inc. 500 List

Alpharetta companies VDart, EndoChoice and The Pedowitz Group also made it on the magazine's list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies.

UPDATED 3:30 p.m. with more local companies' comments. Edge Solutions of Alpharetta is No. 3 on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies in the country. The company's three year growth has been 21,036 percent. Revenue in 2008 was just $103,070, but last year it had ballooned to $21.8 million. Twenty one employees work for the IT services company. It ranks first in its industry on the Inc. magazine list. The company's CEO and cofounder, Julie Ison Haley, is active in the community as well. Alpharetta Medical Device Manufacturer Sues Competitors

EndoChoice claims three companies have infringed on its patent for the Cinchpad.

An Alpharetta company is suing three other firms on claims they infringed on its patent for Cinchpad, an absorbent pad and impermeable membrane, protecting the work surface and equipment during a gastrointestinal procedure. After surgery, medical staff can use the Cinchpad's drawsting to close it for easy removal. EndoChoice filed a complaint against Austin Medical Inc., AVID Medical Inc. and Cygnus Medical LLC in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, alleging that each defendant makes and/or sells a scope transport pad that infringes EndoChoice's patent.
