The Croods delight critics in this animated adventure starring the voice of Nicholas Cage.
EDITOR'S NOTE: "The Croods" is playing at AMC Mansell Crossing 14 in Alpharetta. The Croods tells the story of the world's first family road trip: When their cave is destroyed, the Crood family must embark on a comedy adventure into strange and spectacular territory in search of a new home. The movie is rated PG due to some scary action and runs 98 minutes. You'll hear the voices of Nicolas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, Emma Stone, Catherine Keener, Clark Duke and Cloris Leachman. Marketing of the film is in full swing, with free game apps and movie storyboards offered as Android apps on Amazon, and iPhone and iPad apps on iTunes. Reviews: "Despite a few too many mother-in-law jokes, "The Croods" nicely makes it clear that even before they had …

A group of pretty-boy cops goes all "gangsta" to take down a mob boss who looks a lot like Spicoli from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High."
EDITOR'S NOTE: "Gangster Squad" is showing at AMC Mansell Crossing 14 in Alpharetta. A Chicago gangster moves out to Los Angeles, killing his way to the top, only to be met by a few honest cops in "Gangster Squad." Sean Penn overacts as the main bad guy while the good guys include Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Giovanni Ribisi, Anthony Mackie, Robert Patrick, Michael Pena and Nick Nolte. The undercover spy femme fatale is Emma Stone in this wildly ridiculous, over-the-top movie. I couldn't tell if the film wanted to be a serious gangster drama (circa 1940s) or an action-adventure film for kids. It's trying to be more like "The Untouchables" but ends up more like "Dick Tracy." The Flick-O-Meter gives "Gangster Squad" a two out of five. Sadly, …

Spider-Man is back swinging at the box office; it's somewhat of a reboot with different actors, a different look, and a whole lot more spidey-swagger.
Spider-Man is back, and we love it! Andrew Garfield takes over from Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, a nerdy kid who gets bitten by a radioactive arachnid in "The Amazing Spider-Man." The film is somewhat of a reboot about the origins of Spider-Man. Parker gets bullied in school, meets a pretty girl, gets spidey powers. The family falls victim to street thugs; he becomes a superhero. It's pretty much the same storyline, just a bit grittier than the one 10 years ago. This one has more swagger, more angst and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, the new spidey love interest. This is not a total carbon copy of the original but it's basically the same storyline. Different actors, sure; a different director, sure. There is even a different bad guy; the CGI…
