The boys basketball team can't play in region and state tournaments this season, and the school was fined for "undue influence" toward students transferring to the school.
Milton High School lost its boys basketball coach, David Boyd, and now the team has lost any chance to be in the state tournament this season. "The Georgia High School Association has placed the boys’ basketball program at Milton High School on probation for the 2012-13 season for violating GHSA rules in regard to 'undue influence',” GHSA reported on its website earlier today, Oct. 9. The team will not be eligible to participate in the region tournament or the state tournament. The program will be on "Severe Warning Status" during the next school year, but it will be eligible for post-season play in the 2013-2014 season. Milton High also had to pay an undisclosed fine. Boyd resigned Sept. 10 after the allegations surfaced. "Undue influence…

Watch video highlights of game action from Friday night's varsity football contest.
The Milton Eagles never got their game in high enough gear to defeat the Johns Creek Gladiators, losing to the visitors, 14-9 on Friday, Sept. 7. The Eagles did score first by sacking the Gladiators' quarterback in the end zone for a safety, making it 2-0. They immediately followed that up with a touchdown on the drive that followed. Taking advantage of great field position after Johns Creek had to kick from deep in their own territory after suffering the safety, Milton quickly made it 9-0. But that was the last score for the Eagles. Johns Creek was able to put together two unanswered scoring drives in the second half as Milton couldn't contain the Gladiators on the outside. The Eagles couldn't sustain their next to the last drive against …

The Eagles held off a threat by the Raiders to snatch victory from the visitors in the final two minutes of play.
It looks like Milton High will soon be getting a visit from Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle to serve lunch, as the Eagles sent the Raiders to defeat, beating the home team 35-28. Belle Isle and his counterpart in Milton, Joe Lockwood, had a bet in the first "Mayor's Matchup" that the mayor whose team lost would go to the other school and serve lunch one day. The Alpharetta High Raiders scored twice in the final two minutes of the game to threaten the Milton High Eagles, but fell short in the end. According to the statistics supplied by the "Milton Stats Guy," Bill Berry, Alpharetta got into the end zone first. A six-yard pass from Josh Gobbs to Rodney Morris put the Raiders on the board, and Thomas Waller's PAT made the score 0-7. The …

The losing mayor will be serving on the lunch line of the winning high school.
Alpharetta Mayor David Belle Isle and Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood have put bragging rights for their cities on the line with a bet over the Alpharetta Raiders vs. Milton Eagles high school football game on Aug. 31. Belle Isle called the Mayor's Challenge "most aptly named" and taken on at Alpharetta High's urging. "There is a bet, I talked to Joe Lockwood about this," Alpharetta's Mayor said at the Aug. 13 City Council meeting. "The loser gets to serve lunch for the other school." "I will be happy to serve," Belle Isle said. "It's not going to happen, anyway. Alpharetta High School is going to win easily." The two mayors plan to be present at the first game of the high school football season for both teams, which will be Alpharetta's home …

The Milton High School boys tennis team will take the region title whether they beat Northview on April 10 or not, but the Eagles want to win that match too, their coach says. The Eagles beat North Forsyth on Thursday, March 29, to assure they win the region title. "We have one more match against Northview that we're hoping to win and end the season undefeated in the region. But since we beat Alpharetta, who is in second place, we would win the region even with a loss against Northview," said Coach Ann Marie Willis. She said the team has six seniors who have provided tremendous leadership and enthusiasm to the team. "Our players put the team first and even though we've had some close matches, they are fighters and have been able to pull …
