Alpharetta Business Association Wants to Market Entire City

The group dropped its old name to convince potential members it's about more than just downtown, and will sponsor a Mayor's State of the City Address this month.

The Alpharetta Business Association is looking for more members to continue the work marketing and lobbying for businesses in the city. The group isn't new–until recently it was known as the Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association (DATA)–but that old name was too limiting. Board member Brian Patton said the name change allows them to reach out to more businesses. "We kept on finding that so many people didn't join because they'd be a half block off of downtown," Patton said. The group never limited itself to downtown, but having that name was a "marketing hurdle that we just couldn't overcome," he said. If the 40-50 members didn't do something to reach the entire business community in the city, someone else would beat them to it, Patton said…

DATA, Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau join 33 downtown businesses to hand out prizes.

Three winners were drawn Dec. 17 in the Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association’s first annual holiday promotion sponsored by the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and First Citizens Bank. Brew Moon Fest Brings Crowd to Downtown Alpharetta

The Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association present the first Alpharetta Brew Moon Fest on Saturday night, Oct. 1, to a section of Milton Avenue closed off for the event, and the earlier Scarecrow Harvest in the same location. Food, beer and friendly faces invited any who braved the chilly temperatures. Banks and Shane was the headliner, and entertained the crowd well into the night. Had DATA been selling sweatshirts instead of T-shirts, they might have sold even more to support the costs of the festival.

As a member of the small DATA Committee that produced the event, we were thrilled that everyone loved and supported the Brew Moon Fest! Each person I asked, wanted more events like this in downtown. I talked with friends from Dahalonga, Roswell, Atlanta, Woodstock, Cumming and Alpharetta. It was great seeing all of our merchants supported and stepping up to the plate to make this happen.
