Amoora Dance & Fitness Opens in Alpharetta Next Sunday

The grand opening on Jan. 13 promises to include dance lessons and performances.

Amoora Dance and Fitness holds its grand opening a week from today, on Sunday, Jan. 13. The new business pens its doors at 5:30 p.m. at 480 North Main Street in Alpharetta. The location is in Main Street Walk, in the same building that housed RISPA before that performing arts school moved north up Hwy. 9. The celebration will include a social/part, salsa lesson with Jimmy Rumba at 6 p.m., and Beth giving a belly dance performance at 7:15 p.m. The grand opening will serve good and drink, with a $10 entry fee. RISPA Expands into Milton

The performing arts school outgrew another location, so it moved north again and added a black box theater

Brian Littrell of the Back Street Boys was on hand recently to help open RISPA's new 11,000 square foot facility in Milton across from Alpharetta Country Club East and Crooked Creek subdivision. RISPA offers ballet, jazz, acting, voice, musical theater and other facets of the performing arts. It first opened in downtown Alpharetta next door to Smokejack, but soon outgrew that space. A move north to Main Street Walk allowed for its first expansion, but after a few years they also outgrew that space. Now RISPA is in an 11,000 square foot facility, with different size studios and rooms for all types of dance. It is so great to be part of the RISPA family. My daughters all attend this great performing art school and I love how it is helping them to be more self confident, sensible persons while developing their talents. It's a great place for kids.   more ›

Metropolitan Ballet Goes On Pointe in Canada

The dancers from the local theater took the stage at the Inman Park Dance Festival before heading to Montreal.

The dancers in the Metropolitan Ballet Theatre had a full weekend, performing at the 12th annual Inman Park Dance Festival before heading north to Montreal, Canada. On April 28 Metropolitan Ballet Theatre performed at the Inman Park Dance Festival. They were one of six companies chosen to participate this year. "To be a pre-professional dance company and to be included in an event like this shows the level of dance that they have been able to reach under the direction of our artistic director, Maniya Barredo," said Kellie W. RISPA Presents Holiday Spectacular in Downtown Alpharetta

The performing arts school takes to the stage at Old Milton Theater in Milton Center.

The fifth annual RISPA Holiday Spectacular will be held Friday and Saturday at the Old Milton Theater in Alpharetta. Students in the performing arts school wil be performing Broadway-style song and dance numbers, duets, solos and vocal performances just right for the season and for the family. The theater is in Milton Center, the old Milton High in downtown Alpharetta that's now home to Independence High. Call 678-620-3500 for ticket prices, or send email. Young Patch Athlete: Royal Ford

This Alpharetta seventh grader participates in the JV Outreach Dance Program.

Royal M. Ford Crabapple Middle School Sport: Dance Sports Bio: Royal has been a part of the J.V. Dance Outreach Program. for 2 years. He learns dance under teacher at the  Tobert-Yilmaz School of Dance under Jacqueline Vergez. Top Stat: Royal's mother has seen his confidence and social skills increase since he started in the dance program. He keeps his grades up so he may continue in the J.V. Dance Outreach Program.  Scouting Report: The program he is in is a summer program, but he can dance yearround at the studio. Home Studio: Tobert-Yilmaz School of Dance through the JV Outreach Dance Program.
