Creek View Students Sing, Dance in 'Once Upon a Mattress'

The elementary school's music department got help from parents, students and staff to present the program.

The Creek View Elementary School music department recently performed “Once Upon a Mattress” for parents and friends of the Creek View Community.  Pictured here are two scenes from the play showing Creek View students singing and dancing.  The costumes and set would not have been possible if not for the many volunteer hours from Creek View parents, students and staff. The play was a huge success and enjoyed by all, according to Fran Gerlich of the school's staff. Share your school's activities with your neighbors on Alpharetta-Milton Patch. Promote them in the Calendar of Events, and then post photos and news about what's going on in the announcements online.

Native American Studies Get Creek View Students Trading

Fourth grade students took part in a traditional potlatch

Fourth grade students at Creek View Elementary School in Alpharetta concluded their Native American unit by participating in a traditional potlatch. The idea for the celebration comes from the Native Americans of the Northwest region of the United States. The children each created items ranging from origami figures to duct tape wallets. After meeting in the cafeteria, each child was able to window shop other classmates items and trade just like the Native Americans.    Pictured above are students Zubin Fredericks (left) and Dylan Huskey (right) actively trading during the Potlatch activity. Does your school have something you'd like to share with the community? Post an announcement on Alpharetta-Milton Patch, and don't forget the photos!
