Alpharetta, Milton Students Tapped to Row at Prestigious Colleges

Cassi Lobaugh, Maggie Nugent and Hannah Onians have signed letters of intent to row at three different colleges.

Eleven high school seniors at Atlanta Junior Rowing Association (AJRA) in Roswell were recruited from this year’s Varsity squads to row at college crew programs - representing the highest number of recruits in the club’s 25-year history. Two of the recruits are from Cambridge High School and one is from St. Francis High School. A total of nine members of the AJRA’s Varsity Women’s squad signed NCAA letters of intent to row with highly ranked college teams. And two members of Varsity Men’s squad will also row on prestigious crew teams. They include: AJRA Head Coach Sam Greenblatt also coaches the Varsity Men’s squad. Skye Elliot is Head Coach of Varsity Women.

Georgia Southern Students Named to President's, Dean's Lists

Local residents from Alpharetta, Milton and Johns Creek earn high grades.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized 1,107 students for excellence in academics on the 2012 fall semester President's List. To be eligible, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester. The following students from your area achieved this accomplishment: Alpharetta Johns Creek Milton Georgia Southern University recently named 2,623 students for excellence in academics to the 2012 fall semester Dean's List. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.50 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester. Law Students Earn Honors at Law School

Local residents receive recognition at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law.

Some area residents have been named to the Dean's List for the fall semester at Samford University's Cumberland School of Law. They are: Shane Michael Lanham of Milton. Brittany Samantha Norman of Johns Creek. Samuel C. Pierce of Atlanta. Tina Thapar of Alpharetta. To qualify for the honor, a student must have earned a minimum 3.0 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 10 credit hours of coursework.

Alpharetta Students on Valdosta State Dean's List

The local students' academic success earned them this Fall semester honor.

Valdosta State University has announced the names of students from Fall 2012 who have earned the academic status of Dean's List. Students who achieve a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher on nine (9) or more semester hours with an institutional (VSU) GPA of 3.00 or higher are recognized by being placed on the Dean's List. Developmental Studies, transients and graduate students are not eligible for Dean's List status. Alpharetta Students Graduate from Berry College

Jennifer Allman and Daniel Wartner graduated with Bachelor's degrees.

Berry College welcomed 105 new alums Dec. 15 at the Fall Commencement. Jennifer Allman of Alpharetta graduated from Berry College with a BA degree in Theatre, Spanish. Daniel Wartner of Alpharetta graduated from Berry College with a BS degree in Exercise Science. Berry College welcomed 105 new alums Dec. 15 at the Fall Commencement. Featured speaker Sally Ride Science CEO Sheryle J. Bolton provided words of inspiration for the graduates. Bolton, a Berry College alumna and trustee, is an experienced corporate executive and business strategy consultant with a passion for bringing innovation to science and technology education.

Local residents have enrolled at Clemson University for the fall semester, the school announced Oct. 26. They join nearly 3,400 freshmen at Clemson this semester.
