Cogburn Woods Educational Foundation will host its first “Chinese New Year Auction” fundraising gala on Friday, Feb. 22. Proceeds will be used to enhance technology in Cogburn Woods Elementary School classrooms. The event will start at 6:30 pm at The Metropolitan Club, 5895 Windward Parkway in Alpharetta, and is open to the public. Admission is $65 per person if paid before Feb. 1, and $75 per person after Feb. 1. Included in the admission price are a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and the Chinese New Year Auction. What could make the last day of school before winter break even better? Cogburn Woods Elementary Principal Bruce Fraser had an idea that was a hit. He surprised students with real live reindeer when they got off the bus. Alicia Hirsch, who took these photos, said the students were surprised and excited.

Alicia Hirsch shares photos of some students on their first day back to school on Aug. 13. These students live in Gatewood subdivision and attend Cogburn Woods Elementary School. Parents see them off on the school bus each day, and greet them on their way home at the bus stop as well.
