CorePhysique, the city of Milton's program partner for youth and adult fitness classes, recently opened a brand new, state-of-the-art training facility on Ga. 9. The 4,700-square-foot gym is located at 6225 Atlanta Highway, Suite 111 in Milton, just minutes from Milton’s City Hall (click here for directions). Milton has a list of nearly 500 living and fallen veterans, but wants residents to add to that registry of service so they can be properly honored at the city's sixth annual Memorial Day ceremony May 27. Through five years of hard work and the generosity of residents, Milton has amassed a list nearly 500 living and fallen veterans, almost 300 of whom are memorialized with markers placed on Deerfield Parkway the week of the holiday, according to a release from Milton Communications Manager Jason Wright. Any deceased veteran of a Milton family is qualified to be honored with a marker. Information on living veterans will be used for recognition purposes. Living veterans do not receive markers. The police department's K-9 Support golf tournament is just a month away, and golfers are needed to raise funds to replace a DaSilva, who retired last year.
Tee off for the dogs: The City of Milton Police Department holds its "K-9 Support" golf tournament May 1 to raise funds to replace a retired police dog, and golfers are invited to play. The tournament will take place at Echelon Golf Club, 501 Founders Drive, Milton (though the address of the course is in Cherokee County). Sponsorship levels include $7,500 (platinum), $3,000 (gold) and $1,500 (silver), with each level promising various corporate signage and placement in tournament literature. Then you'll want to attend a Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) workshop Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. The City of Milton Community Development Department is holding the workshop to educate the equestrian community and land owners of more than five acres about the program. O'Connor, an architect by trade, brings to Milton more than 45 years of diverse, public-sector experience. He most recently served as the director of the Department of Environmental Services in Arlington County, Va., before moving to Milton to be closer to family. Milton mailed out city property tax bills on Thursday, Sept. 6, giving residents 60 days after receipt to pay without penalty. Four options are available to pay your tax bill: Acceptable forms of payment are check, money order, cashier’s check, credit card (Visa/MasterCard/American Express and Discover) and cash (exact change only). Ad valorem taxes, more commonly known as property taxes, are levied for city operations and maintenance. All real estate and personal property is taxable unless exempted by law.
